Returned item refund

A buyer returned an item for a different sizes. I shipped the correct size as a replacement . Now eBay want me to issue a refund for the returned item, I don’t see and option to provide the replacement tracking number to keep from issuing a refund. Thank you.

Re: Returned item refund

eBay isn't designed for you to provide replacements in this situation.  The way eBay expects it to be handled is that you would have refunded the item that was the wrong size, then they would have purchased the correct size and you would have shipped that.  Your only real option now other than just refunding and giving them a free product is to ask the customer to close the return request.

Re: Returned item refund

There is no way to do that.

You should have received and refunded for the original item.

The other size replacement should have been purchased by the buyer and shipped.

2 separate transactions.

Thank you, but that’s not the issue I have.

@colfaxtrading

Your only option now is to have the buyer cancel the return before Ebay refunds the buyer.

Have a great day.

I'm confused. It sure sounds like @klhmdg is on to something... you need 2 separate transactions.

Re: Returned item refund

I understand what you were trying to accomplish and I am assuming the buyer opened a NAD case (or similar.)

Ebay is asking you to refund the buyer for the original item they returned to you. You now have the item and the money. A refund will close that case.

Then you mailed an item for which you had not been paid...

It is in your best interests to keep your sales linear. Ebay is very number driven, e.g. with item #, tracking #, transaction (sales) #, refund #, etc. They aren't set up for mix and match.

 You have been given very good advice from above yet it appears we may not have a good understanding of your dilemma.

Re: Returned item refund

There is no provision for item exchanges associated with return requests.

The initial order must be refunded and a new order associated with the desired size.

@klhmdggot it right,

Re: Returned item refund

So how do you do the option they are speaking of instead of refund?

Your item didn't match the listing, or it arrived faulty or damaged

Offer you a replacement or an exchange – Some sellers may offer the option of returning an item for a replacement or exchange instead of a refund.

If you do it, you lose everything. That is how it has always worked since Ebay has been involved in the returns process.
