Return Help

I had an item from overseas arrive in a condition that was not described in the listing. eBay sided with me and sent me a refund, but I did not get any return label or any extra funds to purchase a label either. This is my first time having to return an international item, and I’m very confused. I reached out to the seller to find out what to do, but I haven’t heard back yet.

Anyone ever been in this situation before? Should I just contact eBay?

Are you sure you got a refund. Typically, refunds are not given until after proof you shipped the item back.

Return Help

eBay sent me a message and an email yesterday saying that they are sending me a refund and that it’ll be available in my account in 3-5 days. That’s why I’m confused. They said in a previous email that they’d put the case on hold until the 17th to give the seller time to either send me funds or provide a shipping label, but then they turned around and told me about sending me in a refund in that email yesterday, so I have no clue what’s going on.

Have you reached out to the seller to see what they say?

Yes, I’m waiting for a response from the seller right now. I hope they know what I’m supposed to do, because this has never happened before and I’m very confused about what to do.

I think you've already had your response, which is that the seller doesn't want the item back, because you have already received your refund. If they wanted it back, they would have responded with a request that it be returned before they would cough up your money. That didn't happen.

It's not clear whether eBay refunded you because the seller didn't respond to your return request in time, or because the seller hit the Refund button to reimburse you immediately (without wanting a return), but either way, the outcome is the same. You don't need to pursue the seller any further. From your description of events, you're free to keep the item.

Thank you for all your help and for all of this information. I’m just shocked that the buyer wouldn’t want this item back when it’s a $300 item, but then again, they would have to pay for the return shipping since it arrived in a bad condition that didn’t match the listing description, so maybe that’s why.
