Restricted on Number of Items to List

I've been selling over 1 year averaging $700 net sales monthly.  I had just gotten over 300 items listed.  I go in my account one day and I only have 119 items listed and the others are listed as drafts.  Thing is I can't pick which 119 items I want listed.  I have to go with what they've left.  I can't add or change these listings.  The items they left listed are some of my lowest priced items.  I haven't sold a thing since this happened.  I've gone thru the dashboard items that they say I've done wrong and actually they're not totally accurate.  But I can't find a way to talk to anyone or email anyone to dispute some of their claims.  Funny thing they say that 3% of my shipping is late but you look at my feedback and I have 99.1% feedback with the people saying what fast shipping, awesome packing, loved item, etc.  Out of 202 I had 1 negative - a man ordered 2 caps and I sent him one.  I quickly sent him another one but he never changed his feedback.  That was a year ago.  They also said I uploaded tracking info late.  I don't understand that because I ususally buy postage thru Ebay and they update the tracking.  I also have a store that's frozen.  I'm at a loss at what to do.  I've been working hard to put more items on then get slapped down.  Discouraging.

Your feedback is irrelevant as far as the metrics are concerned, if ebay says x% of your shipments are "late" that is something you should check into via your seller dashboard.

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

What is your handling time? Are you getting acceptance scans within that time frame? If not, they will be considered late.

There is no point in talking to anyone. The damage is done. You need to focus on not allowing the problem to worsen.

Handling time is 2 days.  The thing is how will it improve if nothing I currently have listed sells?  What are acceptance scans?  Scans at the post office, fedex, ups, etc?

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

An acceptance scan occurs when the carrier scans the barcode into the system whether it's done at window or after it's collected from a collection box.

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

The metrics will eventually cycle out. They cycle on a 3 month or 1 year cycle.

  • If you had more than 400 transactions in the past 3 months, we'll count all those transactions
  • If you had fewer than 400 transactions in the past 3 months, we'll count all your transactions from the last 12 months

When the carrier person runs their scanner across the barcode, that's usually an acceptance scan... It is also the first scan the carrier makes, usually upon receipt of the package, it's what makes your tracking update from "PRE-SHIPMENT INFO SENT USPS AWAITS ITEM" to "SHIPMENT RECEIVED ACCEPTANCE PENDING" and/or "ORIGIN ACCEPTANCE" (not sure which of those two, but the carrier has to scan it).

Try ending one of your listings. It will go into your Ended Items folder. Then go to your Drafts and list one of your better selling items.

Just remember to refresh your Drafts listings before they expire. Same with ended items.

It's probably not a good idea to do that.

Ending one item will not open up the possibility to list a different one. Selling limits count ended items as well as active ones.

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

If you were making $700. monthly which is not bad...why didn't you do a store for $21.95? Its lets you do so much more and your not limited.

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

That’s not entirely accurate if the OP has restricted monthly selling limits getting a store will not increase them especially if those selling limits are restrictions due to their seller metrics not being up to par.

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

When Ebay restricts an account @imashoppingfool they send you and email which tells you why.  Would you please post that email here so we can see it.  Be sure to black out any personal information.

Do you ship with tracking?  If so, if you don't generate your shipping labels in Ebay, do you upload your tracking numbers to Ebay?

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

I generate my shipping labels in Ebay.  It has always seemed to be cheaper plus the tracking info is automatic....(I think...).

Re: Restricted on Number of Items to List

I didn't get an email but I received this in my Ebay Messages:

Rebecca, your selling account is now at risk

From:eBay
Sent:Jun-27-23 08:28

We wanted to remind you that your seller performance has consistently fallen below our minimum standards in the United States. As a result, there’s now a risk that the selling limits will be lowered on your account, and in some cases, you may be permanently restricted from selling on eBay.

Here’s what you should know

Hi Rebecca,

ou can also learn more about our policies for the restriction of accounts. If you have any questions or concerns, just scroll to the bottom of this FAQ page to get in touch. We’re here to help.

(It wouldn't let me copy and paste the message in it's entirety.  Something about it found html and deleted it. but that's

So I went to my seller's dashboard - after the confusion and surprise wore off.  I had to just regroup.  Where I was working to increase my listings now I had to figure out what to do to actually make a sale in my pared down state.  I've made 1 sale this month so I may never get out of Ebay jail.  But I've been trying to improve the listings that I do have, adding more recommended item specifics, trying to improve the wording, adding more photos....just anything I can think of.  I was enjoying selling on Ebay.  Now I'm looking at other places to sell - out of necessity.  I have ALOT of things to sell!  Thank you all for taking time to suggest stuff, etc.

Rebecca
