Restricted accounted, why?

Why is my account restricted? I haven't sold on eBay for years and my rating was either 99% or 100% when I stopped selling!?!?

Restricted accounted, why?

What reason were you given for the restriction?

"Those who enter the arena unarmed or unprepared are quickly dispatched."

Restricted accounted, why?

maybe you need to sign up for MP...that would be my guess

you could nose around the payments tab in seller hub and see if it has any thing you need to do

its probably just new $$ requirements

What kind of messages did you get from eBay?

Could you have left owing a small amount? I was restricted on Etsy for 5 cents, no joke.  Easily fixed.

Or, were you gone so long they are limiting how much you can sell, treating you like a brand new seller?

If it has been years since you sold on eBay there is a possibility that you need to register for MP before you can start selling again. Was there any information in the message from eBay as to why your account was restricted?

Restricted accounted, why?

Hi, More than likely, it because you have not used the selling feature on your account for over a year.

Restricted accounted, why?

New, Occasional, and Returning sellers work with Restrictions until eBay is satisfied that they are providing good customer service.

Returning sellers are included because:

  • Sometimes an abandoned account is hijacked and the good feedback is used by scammers to soothe nervous customers
  • There are constant changes- for example, Managed Payments, Internet Sales Tax, Restrictions on Negative Feedback, Promoted Listings, Best Offer on Auctions, the death of Auctions, GSP and eBay International Shipping, Shipping FVF.

While you learn about changes, eBay is protecting you, your customer, and mostly themselves from your inevitable mistakes.

It's patronizing-- but if you read the Seller Boards, and to a lesser extent  the Buyer Boards, you will see why it is all too often necessary.

Restricted is okay, suspended is not.  PayPal is no longer processing payments for eBay sales.   Ebay won't let you sell unless they have your checking account number for deposits and fees plus your Social Security number for the IRS.

If you've not sold for years, there's a possibility that eBay will treat you like a brand new seller with the usual limits on brand new sellers.
