I have a business opportunity to move a very large inventory of plumbing related items.
Let's say I have no prior knowledge on the product specifics (that isn't quite true), but need to get the entire inventory converted to ebay and other listings online.
There are about 5000 various items. Ideally, I'd like to use a barcode scanner and build a database and listing catalog from the ground up. Are there product database programs out there that would have product inventory pre-loaded, and are there programs for listing mass data that don't involve one-at-a-time listing? Then, of course, I need to track inventory counts as sales happen on multiple venues.
Any recommendations?

Your items all have bar codes?

I think it's fair to say they all have barcodes. Most have a UPC, but some are in other formats.

Wow......if it were me and I had a 5,000 pc. lot of assorted plumbing parts/supplies, etc. I would look for a plumbing supply store or wholesaler and try to sell the entire lot to them.

Stackers- That is certainly an option that I am exploring. Even so, I need to properly catalog and list what I have in order to present it to potential buyers. Without a catalog, all I could do is have local parties come and take a look. Much of the inventory is in large master cases and I have no way to properly present the inventory for inspection, let alone get it to a wider audience.
