I posted an expensive video game cartridge on my profile yesterday and it sold surprisingly quick. Curiously, it was a first time buyer with no feedback who had created the account in the same day. It seems like a bit of a red flag to me given the age of the account, the price of the game, and how I've read to be careful about video games on eBay. I am hesitant to ship out of fear of getting a fraudulent return request (I don't allow returns). The whole thing just seems suspicious to me. Am I possibly in my own head about this or do I have legitimate reason to be concerned?

Any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent return. There is no way to know if a new account is a legitimate buyer or a fraud. There is also no way to know if an established account is a legitimate buyer or a fraud.

It's funny that on the one hand many sellers post here complain that eBay is not attracting new buyers, but on the other hand so many sellers here consider a new buyer to be a red flag or something to avoid.

Maybe the buyer just never considered buying things used before.   Youhave a relatively high feedback score, so certainly you have come across new buyers before.  I believe you're obligated to complete the sale, anyway.  Personally, I wouldn't borrow trouble.

Well to start off the game you sold Pokemon Platinum is an in demand game so Pokemon games in general sell very fast for market value. Yours was slightly under market value so I am not surprised. Whenever I list Pokemon games they sell same day if not next day.

You are required to ship this game to the buyer. If selling games or items with high value is a concern for you then you shouldn't have list the game in the first place. Yes buyers can scam you however any buyer can do that. That's why if you fear risk then don't list. One thing I would suggest you doing if you continue to sell on Ebay is have a return policy of 30 days with you as the seller pay for shipping back. If there is a problem then you do have some feedback protection from a buyer if there were to be a problem.
