Sorry you had a bad experience.
One flaw, one typo. You can avoid a bad experience by just thoroughly inspecting your item before listing it and making sure the listing is accurate. You can check the listing before sending it live and you can check it after sending it live, for your protection.
You would want what you ordered to be in the condition the listing said it was, too. But I hope you have better experiences in the future.

My answer to this: This happens lots. I sold 2 BRAND NEW in the boxes Ivan Trump boots and they were claimed to be used. Why? The buyer said I had manipulated them by removing them from their boxes to take close up photos. Ebay sided with them telling me they were entitled to how they felt and with the negative feedback they left too. This occurred on my other store but I also get items declared as not as described on this store too. It is a sad situation because the buyer is ALWAYS correct. The buyers are very aware they have all the power.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately, buyers abuse sellers and sellers abuse buyers. That reasoning boggles the mind~that because you removed them from the box to take pictures they are somehow defective.
So a better statement would have been, you MAY avoid a bad experience by just thoroughly inspecting your item before listing it and making sure the listing is accurate.
Of course, the statement was intended for situations such as the OP detailed, one flaw, one typo situation, where something was missing in the description.
Buyers don't like suprises upon delivery; they want what they ordered in the condition specified.
That doesn't include your situation, which DID involve what they ordered in the condition specified.

They do seem to be one sided these days. Best regards
