Hello, I sold an item and after I bought the shipping label the buyer contacted me because he wants to change the shipping address. I don't know what to do. He is a long time member and just has positive feedback like a buyer. What can I do? Please help.

All buyers have positive feedback. It is physically impossible for a buyer only to receive any other type of feedback.
Verify that the person requesting the address change is actually the buyer and not another member trying to steal your stuff. You would be surprised how many sellers get scammed this way because they don't check the ID, they just assume...
Tell the buyer you cannot change the shipping address after purchase. You will have to ship it to the address that was used at payment. If the buyer needs it sent elsewhere, you will need to cancel the sale using the buyer requested option, then list again. The buyer can repurchase using the correct address.

Hopefully others will chime in here BUT
For your seller protection you only want to ship to the address that eBay gives you, period.
If buyer demands different address then cancel transaction, have buyer change address then purchase again with new correct address

"just has positive feedback like a buyer"
Buyers can only receive positive feedback so that's meaningless.

First, make sure the message to "change the address" has the same ID as your buyer. There will be "imposters" so to speak that want the address changed (often to a place in Delaware) when they are really not your buyer at all. If that is the case and you "cancel" you will be cancelling the transaction with the real buyer.

i've had a couple of similar requests lately and have used a stock reply..."I have to ship to the listed address to maintain my eBay seller protections and your eBay buyer protections"...it might not be totally accurate, but it has worked every time...lol

After having a few buyers do this to me (not pleasant in the least), I went and changed all my auctions and added : " **Ships USPS to your address on file (sellers can't change). So if you need to change your shipping address on eBay/Paypal, do it BEFORE purchasing"
Yes, sellers can technically change the address, but I won't do it, so I generalized to make a point, lol. Plus - sellers won't get back their Paypal fees if an auction is canceled, from my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong)?

Thank you for the information. Although the thread is from 2021, I just gotten the exact request (Jan 2025).
