Request to ship to a different address.

Buyer, before bidding, asked if I'd accept his offer on a couple items of mine.  Under his profile, it lists his address being out of the country.  I informed him I don't ship outside of the United States.  He wrote back saying he has another address in Florida.

How do I know that is going to be the address provided through eBay/Pay Pal if I take him up on his offer?

Request to ship to a different address.

It couldn't be any simpler.  ONLY ship to the address the customer has provided to ebay/paypal.  ONLY to the address that will print out when you print out a ebay shipping label.  If it's not that address, do not ship.

It sounds like he is going to use a re-shipper or freight forwarding company based out of Florida.

Make sure whatever you sell to him is packed really well if it's a breakable item.

Understood.  I just don't want to go through all that and it not be the proper address.  Then have to cancel etc....

I think he already knows how the process works, as it sounds like he already has a reshipper account set up. It certainly won't hurt to say something like, "I can accept your offer as long as your Florida address will be sent with your payment." Keep us updated.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by the address that has been "provided to ebay/paypal [sic]," but I want to make sure everyone is clear on this: items must be shipped to the address the customer provides AT CHECKOUT.

My actual home address is in Dodge City, Kansas (not really, but . . . ). If I want to send an eBay purchase to my elderly aunt who's in a care facility in Lakewood, Colorado, that is perfectly acceptable. All I have to do is provide her name and address on the checkout screen before I pay for the item. All seller protections provided by eBay in regard to shipping remain intact.

The address a customer provides at checkout is the address that will print out on the shipping label.

If you have your site preferences - buyer requirements set up correctly, that buyer will not be able to purchase unless he gives you the USA address.

He didn't quite seem like he did.  I explained the Florida address has to be the one linked to the final transaction.  He said, "Ohh i see I will change that."  But then I reminded him just as long as the Florida address is there at checkout, we're good.

I don't know what your buyers game plan is to have you shipp to a FLORIDA address, other than there are a lot of overseas forwarding companies in Florida. I have shipped and number of items to those. If this is the case your buyer should have listed the Florida addressed as a secondary address in their PayPal information. If that is the case you should be good to go. If not you can request them to add the Florida address to their PayPal account, to legitimize the shipping/payment protocols. Sorry Capitalnick I didn't read your thread until I wrote this 😊

It sounds like he is using a forwarding service.  There should be no problem provided he uses that address as the shipping address during checkout.

You might consider using the GSP in the future if you are not willing to ship internationally but still willing to sell to international buyers.

I ONLY ship to the address that prints out, with absolutely no exceptions; I do not need to be aggravated. I send a message to the buyer that I lack the knowledge, which is true, to accede to their request.

No problem at all.  It all worked out.  Shipping address did end up being Florida.  He eventually did explain it was an overseas shipper.  I didn't really get the gist of that from him until 5 emails later.
