Request for enhancement of this feature-
When a buyer requests a total from seller through the shopping cart, please require them to enter the ship-to zip code for the order.
The system assumes the buyer's registered shipping address, but the buyer can change their shipping address at checkout.
Sending an invoice locks in the shipping rate, therefore the buyer should be required to enter the ship-to zip code (or international postal code) at the time they request an invoice so sellers can provide an accurate invoice.

Hi @coffeebean832, this is a great suggestion! I will pass this along for consideration, no problem

Thanks @Anonymous. It might not be a bad idea to require the full shipping address since requesting a total commits them to the purchase anyway. The address could auto-fill when they pay without the ability to change it as that would change shipping on the seller's end and defeat the purpose of having pre-entered it.

It is unbelievably, utterly insulting to accuse the dedicated, hardworking eBay programmers, some that have not seen their loved ones for weeks by choice, of this oversight which they already foresaw, so much so that this brilliant zip code feature request is already under Shipping Address on that page!

Hi @ga-8370, would you be able to share the details related to the request total screenshot you shared? When I test this out on my end, I'm not given the option to change my shipping address within the request. On the test account I used, I do have more than one address on file and am instructed to change my address via My eBay:
I'd love to take a look at what might be creating a different experience so we can improve. Ultimately, I think that moving the shipping address to a required step could definitely help improve the experience for both buyers and sellers and want to get this passed along for review as soon as I understand a little more about how different options may be displayed.

When I buy multiple items from a seller on Etsy, the cart updates the shipping cost as I add each item (and I'm sure my ZIP is part of the calculation). I can see the correct total before I purchase and make a decision whether I think shipping costs are appropriate.
Compare that to eBay, where each item added to the cart increases the total by its own shipping cost. Then, before you can get a shipping total from the seller, YOU HAVE TO COMMIT TO BUY. This is the most ridiculous approach in the online retail cyberworld--to have to commit to buy something before you know the cost.

Hi @eleanor*rigby, this is great feedback and definitely something I will pass on to our payment teams! Thank you for sharing this comparison

I am sorry to stray off conversation, but I could not even get the shopping cart to work for me. The buyer stated he would combine shipping but when I tried to check out I got a message that this buyer was not combining shipping.
It took a while but seller ended up having to send me his own invoice.
