Dear eBay Team,
We recently received notification that eBay will discontinue the sale of live animals on its platform starting in mid-March 2025. This decision will have a devastating impact on our livelihood, as eBay has been our primary source of income, generating between $800K and $1M annually across all our accounts.
Over the years, we have made significant investments to grow our business, including importing a large inventory of live animals and committing to an additional five-year lease for our facility. This sudden policy change has completely disrupted everything we have worked hard to build, leaving my family and my employees facing an uncertain future.
For the past eight years, we have maintained Top-Rated Seller status, consistently delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service. While we understand that there may be concerns about certain sellers, we have always operated as a legitimate, responsible business, supporting and supplying the hobbyist community.
We respectfully request that eBay extend the transition period to six months to allow us—and many other affected sellers—the necessary time to develop a sustainable plan. A 30-day notice is simply too short for a business of our scale to restructure, relocate, and effectively transition customers to a new platform.
We understand that this policy change impacts all live animal sellers on eBay, but as one of the largest businesses in this space, we are facing a significant loss. Extending the transition period would provide a fair opportunity to adapt and ensure the continuity of our business without causing undue financial hardship.
We urge eBay to reconsider and provide a reasonable extension to help us and many others navigate this major change. We appreciate your time and consideration and hope for your support in this matter.
Sincerely,

Ebay isn't here and wont see your mesage.

They have a dedicated team that reviews messages and listens to feedback from both sellers and buyers. This is why we are posting here—to ensure our feedback reaches the executive team for consideration. As a result, they have lifted the ban today.

It has nothing to do with the original poster's plea from a few hours ago, but the eBay policy page is reverted:

Pets and most live animals aren't allowed on eBay. The few that can be listed must follow our policy.
Our live animals policy reflects our commitment to animal welfare and the protection of native, endangered, and threatened species.
Sellers can only list the following live animals:
Pets and other live animals not included in the list above are not allowed.
Sellers need to ensure that they have the necessary government permits and also guarantee safe, overnight shipping.

@wastingtime101 yep, I saw the help page change........just curious to find out if there was another email sent out.
I also note
Sellers need to ensure that they have the necessary government permits and also guarantee safe, overnight shipping.
That reads to me that sellers can only offer overnight shipping? Your interpretation?

That was in the old policy @dhbookds and is back in the current policy, but a lot of sellers don't adhere to it. They're supposed to.
It's not hard to see how some sellers don't offer overnight shipping, and try to upsell their customers on buying an overnight add-on with a separate listing.

I wonder if they are going to crack down on that and get rid of the ones not following it.

You are offering to ship fish every way EXCEPT for the method required by eBay.
Do you intend to comply with eBay's requirement for overnight shipping?
Can you do us all a favor and bring this to the attention of the powers that be?
It is revolting that eBay is not enforcing the overnight shipping policy.
Thank you.
