Reporting Fraudalent Listings

(I was a long time eBay seller) So now understanding how eBay works and their protocol for flagging specific listings, apparently you can get 3-4 friends or more with active accounts on eBay, and spend as much time as you like flagging competitor listings to ruin other sellers lives and their potential sales. (Also you can buy new eBay accounts online to rinse and repeat this, use a fake address/information singing up on each account, which eBay has no control over apparently until its figured out which unfortunately is too late for the damage that is done.)

This works right now and the scum of the earth are doing it.  Also Ebay shrugs their shoulders to this when you as seller confront them on this... What a curve ball, wonder how they'll stop that or will this be another federal lawsuit against eBay? ? ?

UPDATE  - To sum up everything I had my first meeting at the Seattle Ebay HQ this week. Everything went well and I was able to meet with one of their employees after pleading that I have digital evidence of high level security threats inside their programming, we discussed the problems in depth and they now have a clear understanding that this exists.

I'll be having a follow up meeting next week as well - also to give them the rest of my detailed evidence (which I did on purpose in case they wouldn't give me the time of day), but this is a serious issue within their programming.

I was told that updates will be coming to fix these issues (once I proved they did exist) and the employee I spoke with was of course more than thankful for "someone" like me to go this far. I was told that he will be presenting this to their team of engineers. We will see..

I'll be sure to post the next update when it comes but so far this has gone quite well! Big thanks to everyone who helped on this issue!

( There is a lot of pessimistic and bitter people on this community forum, I'm assuming its from making your livelihood on this platform and enduring too much hardship or w/e which is sad to see, it shouldn't be that way but I guess it is what it is. I hope you find happiness here and get the things you need to fill the emotional voids.)

They've been saying that for years and the issues are still a problem.

Have a great day.

@kensgiftshop

I'd like to wager that no one on this community forum has gone as far as I have with an internal problem that is threatening all eBay users (not counting law suits and messaging or calling which doesn't get you far). And if there has been.. well those are quite rare instances... that's for sure.

Also your response is proof of why something wouldn't get resolved, they now know how much this could ruin all of eBay if its leaked and abused to an even fuller extent than how its being abused today. (Which was demonstrated very well in my presentation) You don't even know what was fully discovered, only what was discussed here which is still a massive problem. Have faith and more importantly it HAS to get resolved.

Good to hear.........and hope the problem gets "cured".......will be interested in the rest of the story.

I do hope you understand that this board sees alot of conspiracy theories/wacko Ebay targeted ME posts with no proof except something happened to them that they either don't understand or seem to totally imagine.  We, I at least, have become somewhat jaded by the experience.

Frankly, I wrote off your original post for that reason.......but the "proof"........on Hawaii's item....... convinced me you are legit.......and I do congratulate you on your research and thoroughness.... and thank you for your efforts.......

@dhbookds

Thank you for your comment. I completely understand and agree, and began to realize that after I posted here.  I saw all the other headlines pouring in of threads posted daily about complaints and a lot having 0 merit (like simply not reading the policies etc etc)...

I understand the majority of the skepticism as well, which is warranted and as you can see I will continue to walk through it. Initially I complained out of frustration when I first posted but we all know what that does in the end. (absolutely nothing) Thanks again for your words!

UPDATE - so I had my last meeting with eBay - (same employee initially) but this time was able to get on a zoom meeting with some of there cyber security team. To sum up everything ... it went very well and was a long meeting. They have the "fix" to the problems for what was spoken about in this thread and have already fixed an even larger issue (which I won't disclose.) I appreciated them hearing me out, and was glad to see that this could be fixed and get the immediate attention it needed.

All in all, I'm fairly happy with how this went and lastly,  I was even urged to apply for a position at their company - great pay but.... I'd never work for them. It was humbling experience regardless.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

@inhawaii  I went to bat for you, and made it a point that your listing needs to be reinstated which they said wouldn't be an issue. Suggested that you contact eBay and explain your situation so its not overlooked by their bot - you'll need to get to their personnel to fix the listing & appeal with all the legitimate information you have for that listing and why it happened etc etc. - let me know how it goes

So again, thanks to everyone who helped on this thread! I DID WHAT I SET OUT TO DO AND GUESS WHAT, I'M STILL NOT HOLDING MY BREATH LOL << !    🇺🇸🇺🇸

Why would a seller bother with a competitor who has not yet made even 100 sales( based on feedback received and left over ten years)?

@reallynicestamps

I would re-read the thread to understand how this went... it began as a disbelief to me hence me trying to figure out how this could happen but evolved into where its ended at now

Quick Summary Below

- I had 5 listings up initially  - all were removed at the same time for authenticity which was done from flagging the listings from "something or someone(s)" manipulating ebays algorithm (bot) to bring them down under false pretenses. Who did what I will never know, nor was that the problem... the problem was that this could happen

- I figured out how to do this "method" with a group of volunteers and documented how to do this with a high % of success after being left in the dust not only on these forums but from eBay as well

- Spent my own time and money researching and testing (along with volunteers) ... and the ending to this is above.

@reallynicestamps I think I mentioned this in a previous post, but it is entirely possible that the target was not the Seller, but just certain listings.
