I had a situation a few months ago where a buyer demanded a refund on an item he purchased from me that was shipped on time but had gotten stuck somewhere with no tracking updates for a week. I went ahead and gave it to him since it was a low cost item but he let me know the item arrived later and wanted to repay me for it. I wasn't really sure how to handle that without violating eBay's policies so I ended up just telling him not to worry about it and just keep it. I know it used to be easier when using Paypal but since we use Managed Payments now, is there a way to recoup your funds after a refund if a buyer wants to repay?

When you have a transaction with another member you can share contact information via Ebay emails without getting into trouble. So if this happens again, simply as the buyer for their email address and tell them to watch for an invoice from PP.
Then go to PP, create and send your buyer an invoice. The buyer can pay from that.
Ebay knows we do this. We don't have a lot of choice since there is no vehicle on Ebay in which we can do this from.

Just ask seller to write their paypal address on a piece of paper and send a picture and send them the money. That is a really nice thing for you to do. 100000 karma points.
I purchased a case of isopropyl alcohol on eBay back in April. It would be $20 in the supermarket, I paid $40. I need it. I was happy to pay. Seller with 0 feedback sold 600 of these cases. 2 days later kicked off eBay. I opened a case thinking it was a scam, it was immediately closed and I got my money back.
A month later I got it in the mail. I contacted the seller and offered to pay the $40. He said I was the only one who did. The poor guy sent out 600 cases of alcohol and lost all of this money

It isn't necessary to get that creative. Ebay allows for the exchange of contact information between a buyer and seller with a transaction.

@brwil85. Hmmm, not feeling the "love" on your story. This seller you speak of was part of the problem back in April. Price gouging, hoarding, empty shelves, that was a nightmare and guarantee I will never be caught like that again.
But you felt like paying him his 40 bucks and that's fine also...it was very nice of you to do that.
