Removed Listing

Listed a children's classic book which apparently now is considered offensive and discriminative so it was removed by epay. Since I've seen this very book sold on the site numerous times I did the quick results search and yes, these very same letters were sold 6 times in the past 30 days. Even ATM there is an active listing with the same book that's been waiting for the auction end for several days.

When I contacted the fees collectors the rep only could tell me that that was a restricted listing according to their policy. All my attempts to find out how come other sellers were/are allowed to sell it were in vain.

And yes, the seller who is selling it freely has more than 24,000 feedbacks.

Talking about discriminative...

not sure why you are suggesting things i never asked for, i.e. "how to help you avoid getting caught violating eBay policies on listing prohibited items"; i asked a very simple question, why was my listing removed and why a listing with the same item is still active even though we discussed this with the ebay rep 10 hours ago? how is that "against community guidelines" ?

Simple : Your listing was reported and other were not.

Already has been answered...

Also you wrote: "what I should've done to be let alone too?"

which is asking how to bypass rules and regulations...

See how easy it is to see the conflict with you......

Re: Removed Listing

I did mean to add...

Revenuer (also pronounced "revenner" down in the back woods country) is short for revenue collector, in the case of back woods distillers this refers to tax collectors but also possibly law enforcement of most any kind, here in this thread fees collectors is being used in that same fashion thou it refers to those folks employed by the corporation (eaby) to collect said fees.

The OP makes no distinction between who actually collects said fees, as far as the OP is concerned anyone working for the corporation (eaby) is a fees collector and the term is being used as such.

I hope that clears things up a bit more.

Because someone else didn't get caught does not absolve you from having to follow the rules.

Yes.

Luckily in America, our Constitution gives us the right to decide who can use our property and for what purpose.

Don't complain about this freedom - embrace it!

Let use logic:

Here is a lot of reading on prohibited items..

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/prohibited-restricted-items?id=4207

https://export.ebay.com/en/first-steps/how-create-listing/listing-legal-requirements/

Now that links are shown:

it still will not protect you from such as listing some thing and still finding out it is prohibited... Yet it gives a good idea so you will not get hit with such..

Never list some thing because others do: its a good way to find your self in trouble with eBay..

Learn the rules.

If an item is in question in your mind: come and ask on the boards.... Might save you the hits such can and will cause you as a seller.

This is the only advice I can give you: so this does not happen again....

Do that work for you??

Yes, true. And here on the forum, it's acceptable and understood what "eBay Basher Social Club" means, as well.

. . . cheerleaders here are the folks who stand up for eaby in the face of all naysayers.

And bashers are the folks who criticize eBay even when an OP has violated a listing/selling policy in order to bash eBay at all opportunities.

Well...

I understand epay and fees collectors, but only because I spent some time in the hollers of Tennessee.  simple to understand and why are some folks allowed to use lingo while others can't, just because the newcomer isn't using proper lingo?

The OP is hardly a "newcomer." Registered with the Community in 2010, first post in December of 2020, and first thread in that same month.

Re: Removed Listing

@underhardcover  Yes, you can go through and report the listings that are still active. I was told that some people do report other sellers as a matter of practice so they can eliminate the competition. Especially large volume sellers. It would be nice if ebay would send a notification that the item is prohibited when you first list an item. Better yet, keep an updated database for seller to check BEFORE we create a listing.

Re: Removed Listing

To all "cheerleaders" )) here, pretending (or not) to not understand the point of my post.

I didn't want "to violate eBay policy" on purpose or whatever and not looking for such opportunity in the future. I did list a book which was promptly removed. I was surprised I did some search finding out that this book was sold recently numerous times and that there was at least on active listing going.

I contacted eBay and my call - as I was told at least - was transferred to a rep specifically responsible for this kind of questions - removed listing and reasons for that.

I inquired about the reasons of my listing being banned and was told that it's considered discriminative etc.

I asked then, why same very item is being an active listing right now and the rep (responsible for these exact kind of issues) said, oh, thank you, we will look into that immediately.

So, "police officer" and "mom's" arguments supporters, slowly, for you - eBay was well aware, informed, pointed out to,  reported, told off, revealed, notified, advised, enlighten about this very same item in my morning which since then turned well into late afternoon.

Yet, as of now, this listing is still active, some 12 hours later. Some cheerleaders above suggested that eBay "can be slow sometimes" . I guess this is exactly this "some time" and that particular eBay rep  so slow that she still cant' decide - after her shift is long over - should they remove that supposedly restricted material or not.

Why?

Re: Removed Listing

Asked and answered. Multiple times. Report the listings if you so choose and move on.

It's not like eBay (or epay or freebay or feebay or rentbay--we've heard them all) is pursuing some vendetta against you.

Signed,

Head Cheerleader*

*Not an employee, not a shill, not a spy--we've heard all of those, too.

Did you report it??

What eBay site is it listed on??

And you believed a CS rep would do some thing about a different listing than yours you called about????
