Remind me please. How can buyer not pay immediately?

A buyer wishes to buy items from 3 different listings and I have agreed to share the cost of postage.  She is attempting to make a purchase according to my instructions and not pay immediately, but wait for my invoice.  She can not find that option on the page and I don't remember how it is done.  All we can see is "Confirm and Pay."

Can someone remind me how a buyer can make a purchase and wait for the seller's invoice?

If she goes ahead and pays and I make a refund to her Paypal account, I have to pay fees for the full amount to eBay and to Paypal.

Buyer places all three in cart and buyer requests total on checkout page?

If the request total button is not available you can add best offer to the listings.  This will allow you to combine the items with no payment immediately

@johnsonsales-wisconsin   Sadly, unless you have the Immediate payment required box on ALL of your listings UN-CHECKED most purchases will come in separately because eBay has never fixed the cart from a change made over a year ago.  Auctions without a BIN and all Best Offers are the only exceptions to that situation.

You "may" be able to send an offer in a message (some come through with "reply with offer") and send the list price as your offer ... offers do NOT include shipping, that is separate.  If you were able to do that with ALL the items then I believe the Buyer would be able to request an updated invoice which would allow you to pack everything and get a new total.

However, and to your point, the Buyer simply purchases all three items and they come through separate you can pack them together, print ONE label then add that racking number to the other 2 Sold items.  You would then process Partial Refunds in PayPal for one or more items ... how much you refund the Buyer for "shipping" is your decision ... your Fees are going to be a total of about 13 % ...

Do you have the : Require immediate payment with Buy It Now box checked in the payment options of you listings? If so try to edit and unchecking the box.  If the items the buyer wants are not on sale they should be able to add all to cart and request total from seller.

Thanks for your response. No, I don't have the immediate payment option on any of my listings unless eBay has added it to any of my listings. They did that before. Made it the "default" policy without letting me know they had done it. I can't remember the reason they gave me
The items she was buying were on sale and so when she asked for a total of all three purchases, instead she got a message that a discount had already been applied. Which, of course, is two different things. She was asking for the grand total of all purchases, not a discounted total.

Thanks for your response. Yes, it was the fees that would not be reversed on the refunded portion of the payment that I was trying to avoid. I'm so disappointed in Paypal for changing that policy. But that was how we handled it and it was a nice sale with a very patience, pleasant buyer so I just ate the loss.

I went back and added that to the listings but she already paid, so I don't know if that would have worked in this case or not, but I'm glad to have this information. I will go back and add that to the listings with the quantity discounts. It will probably result in some buyers sending a low ball offer for less than the lowest reduced price, but I will have the auto refusal added. Thanks!

That was the way it is supposed to work, but instead, she got a message that she had already received the discounted price and it wouldn't give her a grand total. I don't know why getting a discount should keep her from getting a grand total, but it must be a glitch. Seems the more eBay tries to make things more convenient, the more they become unworkable.

I know this isn't what people are saying regarding PayPal fees and refunds, but I've done 2 small (under $5) S&H cost refunds this week and gotten the PP fees back on both. (They're 'broken out' as part of the refund.)

It's not a glitch, ebay has set it up on purpose so that if the items are on sale or discounted already, the buyer can't request a total. It makes no sense.
