Relisting vs. New Listing

I am not sure if I pay a fee for this. Customers see I am relisting the item, can they see the history? Thanks

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

Manually relisting an item makes it a "new" listing.  There shouldn't be any history.  If you let an fixed price item roll over an relist automatically the number of views does not reset.  Not sure if that helps much.

Beyond that when I relist an item I manually closed I will make minor adjustments to the listing when I relist it.  I think that changing part of the title, the order of the photos or the description makes it appear as a "new" listing for a week.

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

You get 200 free basic insertions each month, which you can use for new listings, relists, or when a fixed price listing rolls over.

A member can look at your Completed listings to check on whether you have listed an item before.

Manually, meaning I don't use the "Relist this item" button? I do a "copy" then? or "sell one like this"?

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

Any time you do a search, or click on "see seller's other items," you are taken to a search results page that has a column of inks on the left side. One of those links is for all "Completed" items and one is for 'Sold."  Sold items are shown going back 60 days; unsold Completed go back just 30.

Use Relist.

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

Thank you so much. it clarifies for me. Will I be charged Insertion fees? or it will depend on how many frees I have?

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

If you have "frees" available, eBay should use the frees first.

If you have free insertions left from your monthly 200, then the insertions will be free. You will not be charged insertion fees when you relist or set up new listings, if you have not used up your 200 free insertions for the month.

Thanks nobody's_perfect. You are more expert than the experts at Ebay.

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

Many new sellers get confused with the "free" listings and cancel till sold. If you get 200 free listings a month, that is all the "Free" listings you can post in a month for free. It doesn't matter if you list new items, older listings "renew" or "relist", or you end and relist manually. 200 total listings are all you get for free, in a month's period.

Anytime you relist and item (end and relist) it's now a new listing and gets the same boost as any new listing. You don't need to change anything with the listing,  but it MAY be advisable to change up something with the listing, to help it sell.  Some items will be naturally long tail (low demand or few buyers) and other may need title/description/specifics changed up a bit to boost searchability.

Re: Relisting vs. New Listing

I do believe they can see the history... just above the Item Specifics there is a line like this:

Last updated on (whatever date) View all revisions
If you look at someone else's listing you know has been trying to sell for a bit you can see it... it seems one needs to relist from unsold list to avoid that history.
As others have mentioned you will not be charged any differently than if relist, or new list...
