Relist Canceled Order For Invalid Address

I have someone who made a purchase and completed payment with PayPal.  When I go to print the label, eBay states that the address is invalid.  It does seem odd as the buyer has a "0" feedback rating, and the address is to a hotel, but without any room or office annotation.  On PayPal the address shows as "unconfirmed".

Anyway, after researching the Community here, I decided the best course of action would be to cancel the order due to an address problem.  So I emailed the buyer and explained the problem, and explained what needed to be one for re-purchasing, etc.  Then I canceled the order and sent the refund.

My question is, since I've never initiated an order cancellation, why does the refund go through to the buyer, but I have to wait up until 10 days for the buyer to agree to the cancellation?  I was expecting to cancel the transaction and then relist it right away for the buyer to re-purchase with an updated address.  I didn't realize there was a waiting period for the cancellation.  So do I have to sit on this item until I get confirmation from the buyer, which could take up to 10 days?

Thanks for any input!

Ah, never mind, I just received a cancellation confirmation from eBay that said since the refund went through I'm all set. My bad, I should have waited for the email before asking the question here.
