Regarding Suspends on new seller accounts

I am fresh to ebay. Its nearly 1 month as a buyer in ebay. I am planning to start selling but I have some worries regarding new seller accounts which scares me.I heard and also have seen that ebay suspends most of the new seller accounts, some accounts with no reason. Is it true? What are the key points we should keep in mind to not to get suspended?

Re: Regarding Suspends on new seller accounts

This happened to me about a month in and was suspended for 5 days I think while they “researched”. No explanation but I suspect it could have been due to my offering of signed books or my sales exceeded some new seller mark and they do this. Turned out ok in the end. I have no guidance on how to avoid. But if it happens it will suspend your managed payouts until resolved, so keep a little holdover bucket in reserve would be my guidance.

Ebay always has a reason. Don't cheat the system, don't lie about location, don't drop ship, don't sell counterfeit etc.

Learn the policies and don't dropship fake junk from China.

Have a great day.

Re: Regarding Suspends on new seller accounts

There is always a reason that eBay suspends an account

Take what the other sellers have said here to heart and learn the rules and don't try and get around them and you will be fine

Re: Regarding Suspends on new seller accounts

Ebay suspends accounts only if sellers violate the rules and policies which they make crystal clear.  Many accounts have been suspended because of drop shipping items from China, selling counterfeit items, selling prohibited items, etc.  We are seeing alot of these in the Sri Lanka ebay community and it is unfortunate.  Before selling anything, familiarize yourself with the rules and what they entail. I you have any reservations or concerns, you can always contact ebay help and support.  Sell items that are in your possession, be fair on the price and shipping cost and be attentive to your buyers.  I wish you well.

Re: Regarding Suspends on new seller accounts

I've seen so many new sellers from SL with listing violations , and when you tell them what they're doing wrong or their item is not allowed they do not fix the problem! SOME get caught and get suspended but  most do not and that creates another problem because instead of looking up policies to see if their item is allowed they see others listing the same thing so they think it must be allowed.

I see new sellers with 0 feedback for selling offer worldwide shipping.  eBay policy says you need 10 feedback points and have sold your first item 90 days ago before you sell Internationally.

See here>  https://ebay.com/help/selling/selling/selling-internationally?id=4132

I see listings that offer products like seeds that are not allowed due to US import restrictions.

I see homemade coconut jaggery that's not allowed.

I see supplements sold where the seller claims fights cancer or  diabetes  or make other claims that's not allowed.

I see many sellers dropshipping counterfeit or unauthorized items.

I see sellers say they accept Payoneer. Payoneer is not an approved payment method. That's wrong for two reasons. You can't specify how a buyer should pay or say you prefer one method over another.  A buyer can't select Payoneer as a payment method when they pay because  that method will not be offered at checkout. If the buyer has a mastecard issued by Payoneer they can select Mastercard as the method.

I see listings that sell for less money than the selling fee. eBay can't deduct their fees from the payment if it sells for 18 cents and the ffv is 12.55% PLUS a 30 cents transaction fee.  It seems insane to list an item where it could sell for less than the selling fee. That's asking to be suspended.

There are probably other reasons they're suspended but we can't see them. Maybe there were messages between the seller and buyer asking to contact them, or messages about paying. eBay could view that as trying to arrange a payment outside of eBay. I don't know.

I do know there's no eBay police hovering over you when you make a listing. It's  up to you what information is in your listing and it better be allowed  or if it gets reported you'll get a policy violation. Violations lead to selling restrictions or suspensions
