Refunding money to a buyerb

I buyer bought some items off me and I had to cancel it though do to my cousin destroying them, however eBay gave me the money still even though I cancelled the order, how do I get the money to the buyer?

If you cancelled the transaction, ebay automatically refunds the buyer and takes the funds from you.

First thing I would do is click "View order details" next to the item in Seller Hub to see exactly what the status of the order is.

In addition, send a Message to the buyer apologizing for their disappointment and explaining what happened.

Then apologize again and say that you understand eBay automatically refunded them when you were forced to cancel their order.

 

Read your Message before sending and make sure the spelling and grammar are correct. Mistakes make the apology sound insincere.

Is it possible the funds from the sale were on hold?

 

If your funds from the sale were on hold when you canceled the order, eBay will take the funds from your backup payment source to cover the refund to the buyer. Once the hold on the funds is lifted those funds will be paid to the bank account you set up for Managed Payments.
