Ok so a buyer asked for a refund because he says the outfit didn’t fit and it wasn’t real… ok so a refund was issued and I asked the buyer to send back the item but buyer has not sent it back yet and it has been over 3 weeks. I contacted the buyer and he said “ I want to keep the item” And I stated Well sir you requested a refund and you have received it but you still have my merchandise. Buyer asked So how can I give you back the money? I stayed well you can pay pal me or cash app me the money back which would be a lot easier. Buyer stated oh I’d rather do through eBay.. What’s the difference through eBay or not , You still have my merchandise I just want my money. I have sent eBay a message but I haven’t received a reply as of yet…. Yea I’m **bleep** off right now… I feel like This. When someone buys something sometimes the payment get put on hold till confirmation of delivery to customer. It should be the same with returns . Refunds should be withheld until confirmation of delivery of said merchandise back to the seller…🤬😡

You made a mistake by refunding BEFORE the return was done, eBay NEVER requires a refund before return, when you voluntarily gave out a refund you are then at the mercy of the buyer and there is nothing you can do and nothing eBay can do for you.

it is your fault for not following the steps to send a refund. You ask the buyer to open a case. You send a prepaid label and NEVER refund BEFORE you have the items in your hand. Yea you are screwed but it is all on you!!

Return/refund protocol is for the seller to send a return mailing label, wait for the item to be returned, and then issue the refund.
By issuing the refund before receiving the item, you've lost both the item and the money.

You never refund before receiving your item back.If your buyer had opened a case, you would be responsible for sending him a return label. Then refund after return..and that wouldnt happen until tracking showed you received the item.

They are...you simply need to follow the procedure outlined by the help pages and by the posters in your thread....
that being said...maybe you can just relist the item....set the shipping for pickup only....and hope they pay for it and follow up with the pickup option....it is not fool-proof, but it might be an idea.....

If you spoke to ebay about this situation, they'd tell you to send the buyer an invoice through PayPal to repay you.
For some reason they seem unwilling (or unable) to provide a way to be repaid through ebay.
