Refund for Damaged Item

I have never had to do a refund. How do I do a Refund? I want eBay to help. The buyer recieved an item and it was damaged and the package was crushed. They sent pics and it looks like the item.

Refund for Damaged Item

You DO NOT want eBay's help!!!!!

Just tell the buyer to open a Not As Described request, when they have done that you can refund from the request (without requiring a return). Part of the refund will come from the fees that you paid on the original sale.

If need be you can send the buyer this link:

@texastc  - when the buyer files for refund - https://www.ebay.com/help/returns-refunds - go ahead and process it so they get their money back, then if you shipped with the USPS either priority or ground advantage, file with the USPS to get reimbursed.  UPS and Fed-Ex have their own procedure. The photos your buyer sent are important for doing this, so it's good that they sent them.

As Slippin said above DO NOT LET EBAY HELP. Their "help" is basically to refund your buyer BUT then give you a big defect for not doing it yourself.

I guess I messed up. I reported the problem to eBay but I got a message the reguest was invalid. Something was said about it taking 3 days. Can I redeem myself and just give the buyer their refund?

You really DON'T want eBay to help as others mentioned. In addition to telling your buyer to open a NAD request for shipping damage so you can accept and approve the refund and let the buyer keep the item ask your buyer to hold onto the damaged item and the original packing and file an insurance claim with USPS.

Damage claims are difficult to win and the only ones I have prevailed in are those where the buyer has been cooperative. Generally when I receive a damage package I simply file the claim with USPS on my own letting the seller know I am pursuing that route first.

I don't know. I just bought a label through eBay. I assume they paid for the label. I never had the money.
