okay so my dad wanted me to sell his fitbit on ebay for him but then at the last second he gave the item to his friend without telling me. the item has just sold though and the payment is on hold in my paypal acccount. I obviously need to refund the money and cancel somehow. what would be the best way to do this? if i just go through paypal and select refund, is that enough? or do i have to do some stuff on ebay first? if there are any fees i will be charging my father. thanks for any help im new!

I hope not. Please don't. Think how much you owe your Father, that you can never repay.
Of course, your call. Personally, I wouldn't feel right doing that.

Thank you! You had me worried there!
Although I must admit, he kind of left you up the creek without a paddle when he gave it away without telling you! But he can be forgiven!

Hi, well this is a pickle for you as the seller. You will need to cancel the transaction to get your eBay final value fees credited back to you as well as initiating the refund. Link below gives info on how to cancel.
But because you are cancelling, eBay will put a black mark (a defect) on your account for disappointing the buyer and causing a possible bad buying experience. Ebay is cracking down on sellers who cancel sales. Unfortunately this can hurt your account if too many defects are recorded. It will take a year for the defect to roll off your account. In the future, never list an item not in your possession prior to listing.
