in your pics.  How do you avoid them?  I finally took the plunge and purchased a light box for photos after weeks of fighting to find two minutes of daylight.  I love love love the quality of the pics it creates, but now I'm featured in the pictures of every shiny object I object I sell.  What tips and tricks have you all come up with to stay out of your pics?

I shoot top-down at a slight angle but using 2x zoom so that I'm out of the picture but the item is still close up. You don't have to be 90 degrees down, the item is still well pictured but the zoom lets you to be out of the way.

For smaller items, another old trick is to cut a plastic milk jug in half, shine a bright light through the side and snap the pic through the hole on top. It lights up great in there.

Now I just have to find someone who drinks milk 😁.  That's a very clever idea though so it may worth braving the elements to pester my neighbor(s).  Thank you for the cool tips and tricks.

In a few more weeks we'll have snow and the bright light will be back for at least a few hours a day, but I am really struggling with the short, wet, grey days at the moment.

Just took a peek at some of your jewelry pictures. They look great! Especially the Piper K necklace.

Thanks, most of the year (even deep snowy winter) I have wonderful light, but the past few weeks have been a real challenge.  My preference is natural light.  It's just so spotty right now I find myself sitting and waiting every day for high noon to roll around to snap a couple dozen pics before it's back to cave conditions.

I'm looking forward to trying out annadryl's tips, especially the milk jug maneuver for the jewelry.  It's a brilliant idea for all those little shiny things that I don't want my old lady hands reflected on.

Since most of my items are flat, like some of yours, I scan them.

I can then upload the same scan at different dpi, or focus in on a particular area.
