Reducing the price of an item while I run a sale.

So I want to drop prices on some if my older inventory, however I am pretty much always running a sale of some sort on my items.

Here is an example - 

Gloves i am selling have a base price of 29.95. They are currently on sale for 20% off and are priced at $23.96.

When I go to revise the price of the item, it has me drop the price of $23.96. When I reduce the price to $19.95 I am now offering ~33% off. My question is: when my sale is over, will the price go back to 29.95? Is there a way to edit the base price of a listing while a sale is running?

The sale % stacks as you continued to reduce the listed price. 

Each sale duration determines how long it applies, either solely or stacked to a listing.

We often do a sale and a promoted listing at the same time.  Usually works well.
