Recourse for Buyers

I have listed (for seven days) a small engine now three times.  It has sold every time.  Every time the buyer just doesn't pay.  These are buyers with triple digit ratings and the only thing I can do is cancel the order and start again.

Things like this are becoming more common and or course it is.  Literally nothing becomes of it.  I get eBay wants to make people feel safe purchasing on eBay but sometimes buyers get away with murder.  Yet in the same set of rules, I get dinged if I don't print a shipping label in 24 hours.

I could have really used that money at the end of those auctions, but it is what it is.    All I can do is spend more time listing and hoping and printing my labels on time.

Do a buy it now with immediate pay requirement. Since buyers are never held to their end of the “binding agreement “ to buy, they get out of it way too much.

Also, you can set your shipping preferences for 2 day handling, 3 day, whatever.

Don't use Auction.

You (to put the brightest possible face on a bad situation) now know the right selling price for your Thingy.

List it at that price- Fixed Price/ Immediate Payment Required

If you feel lucky, you could add Best Offer, but with an accepted BO, the IPR option disappears, and you are back where you started.

Over 85% of transactions have been Fixed Price for some time now. Buyers avoid them.

Yes, it can get really annoying when buyers don't pay. You can set your settings to four days of waiting for payment until eBay cancels the order and gives the buyer an unpaid item strike, so you don't need to cancel the order. Then block the buyer so he doesn't buy from you again.
