Hi all,
I'm a new seller (but not a new eBayer, established in 2011) and recently made my first auction listing. It has been upwards of 24 hours and the listing still doesn't appear in any searches for the item or on my eBay profile. I have no idea what's going on and the clock for the auction is still ticking away with zero views because nobody can find it!
Any idea what's going on? Seems pretty ridiculous/unfair that eBay has drained >24 hours off of the listing by not making it viewable. For reference, here's the URL: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234319810935

Once upon a time, when a seller listed an item, there was a message that the listing could take up to 24 hours to actually appear. So that message doesn't show up any more?
ETA: Why no PO boxes? And feel free to tell me it's none of my business.

No, after creation it didn't say anything about that; however, I did do a search and found an article saying that it might take up to 24 hours (https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/listing-tips/finding-listing?id=4162).
Its been >24 hours since creation and the listing still isn't appearing in search or on my profile. Is this some kind of anomaly?

You are an occasional seller listing an expensive item in a high fraud category.
I'm not surprised that your listing is taking extra time to "index".
One small comfort, most bids on Auctions, a very unpopular format making up less than 15 percent of listings, come in the last few minutes of Auctions.
On the other hand, most Auctions get only one bid , and auction sales are much much more likely to go Unsold.
If your listing is unsuccessful, I would suggest that you relist it as Fixed Price/Immediate Payment Required which is more popular with buyers, gives you 30 days of visibility, and as the name indicated, stays visible until someone actually pays.
Another thought, are you set up for Managed Payments? EBay no longer allows sellers to use Paypal.
And- you do know that your customer's cleared payment will be Held against your customer service for up to 21 days (less when you show tracking).

He's shipping via FedEx.

Please forgive my question about PO boxes. I should have checked your shipping service. My bad.

I checked your item, item is active. I think it is because, there are a lot of listings for "pioneer dj djm-s9 2-channel pro mixer", most of them are from established sellers. Try doing the following things.
1 Change the title, add more keywords to it like "hite decal And decksaver, Professional 2 Channel, Serato DJ Pro, Japan, Performance, turntable, black" make it a readable sentence.
2 Place your mixer on a white background and take some clear close up photos. Make sure they are 1:1 aspect ratio (square shape photos). Take 12 photos, think what the buyers need to see, then take photos of them. If you can make a light box, you can take great photos. Watch a YouTube video to learn how to make a light box.
3 You must add more item specifics, try to put as many items specifics as you can.
4 Your item description is very simple. Write a better item description with a long title, features and benefits, and about the item's usage and quality. Give your viewers a reason to purchase it from you.
5 Auction listings with more than 12 h left and no bids can lower the price as well.
6 If it is possible, reduce the handling time to 1 or 2 days and accept returns. eBay algorithm loves listings which accept returns with shorter handling times.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for all of the recommendations and replies. That's a little disheartening to hear, my listing is the only auction available for this mixer (18 in total and mine isn't a part of this very small group) while the rest are at a static, outrageous price. One auction recently ended and did well too which is why I decided to list it with eBay. eBay should really consider trusting new sellers.
@femmefan1946I'm actually waiting for the random deposits in my bank account to take place so I can accept money if there is a winning bid or offer. Do you think this might be a contributing factor?
@musicmateI'll try to follow your recommendations here.
I just wish it was made a little more transparent, it seems like new sellers are automatically at a disadvantage because we're new. How are people supposed to sell anything on eBay unless you're a warehouse supplier? Lol

@term2I followed the link that you provided, and did see your listing. Ebay limits new sellers in quantity and $ amounts in an effort to protect the new seller from selling high $ amounts, only to discover they made a mistake in their shipping calculation, or listing details, or pricing. It gives new sellers time to learn and not get taken advantage of (too badly). It establishes you as a seller who fulfills orders as promised. This protects buyers from sellers who would list and sell large $ amounts, only to disappear.
I have a personal account, as well as administering our business account, and I hesitate to list anything too expensive on ebay (or any other platform). Any buyer can open a claim of Item Not as Described and you have to accept the return, provide a return label, and issue the refund within ebay's short time allotted. If you don't, ebay will close the case in the buyer's favor, even if they're lying. My concern is the uptick in credit card chargebacks. All a buyer has to do is dispute the charge with their cc bank, and sellers lose the cases about 99% of the time. Since the buyer didn't file a case with ebay, they usually get away with keeping the item and getting a full refund. Sellers are given 1 (one ) photo to provide all their proof of tracking, delivery, etc.
I'm not trying to discourage you, but I wanted to let you know some of the challenges sellers face here. You can make your listings Local Pickup Only Cash on pickup. As many wise people here have posted, "Don't list anything unless you can afford to give it away". Best of Luck!

Possibly.
But your thin track record is more likely.
Rather than looking at listed items, check Sold items to learn the market price. You may be leaving money on the table by selling too cheap. Or the other guys may be dreaming in Technicolor.
There have been some reports on eBay Canada about problems with micro-deposits, due to currency fluctuations .(We have to have Canadian chequing accounts although they can be in USD. Buy/sell prices differ and therefore the micro deposits don't match.) Personally I went with my passport since I don't drive and our government is touchy about using our Social Insurance Number. YMMV.

"This listing was ended by the seller as this item is no longer available". In completed listings. Did you take it down?

Yes, I ended up taking it down. I was told by an eBay representative that another reason it was taking so long to list is because of my revision - I had a typo in the name listing so I had a revision for that, then I added additional pictures which also counts as a revision.
Overall, those two additional revisions were adding upwards of 48 hours to my "index" time. She said it would've been more productive for me to end the listing, then remake it. After that time period, my listing would appear.
