Read Before Selling - Ebay Fees Are A Rip-Off

Just sold a DJ Controller for $175.

Fees were $29.89.

Left with $145.

That's 17%.

Re: Read Before Selling - Ebay Fees Are A Rip-Off

Did you not research fees BEFORE you listed and sold an item?

Im guessing you didnt bother and are now upset.

You may want to cancel the listing you have live now since it will have fees too.

Fees are based on the total transaction amount including shipping and sales tax, not just the price you sold the item for.

Also there is a $.40 transaction fee.

Good luck on your next sale.

It also depends if you promoted the listing. I was surprised the first sale I had using the promoted feature, but price it into my prices now.  Its definitely a learning experience.

It's probably just an oversight on your part, but you state your sale was $175.

You neglected to mention the shipping fee.  And was there a state sales tax?

On eBay, the final value fee is calculated on the item price, the shipping fee and the state sales tax, if any.  Pretty sure this is explained to sellers before they start to sell here, so don't understand why it would be a surprise.
