Yet I see on E_BAY reprints being sold all the time---Why is EBAY two faced about who can and cannot sell reprints   hockeyUSA

Most likely your listing was reported by someone, maybe a competitor. There are millions of listings on a daily basis so they cannot all get captured immediately. It's similar to getting pulled over for speeding and you say to the cop, why didn't you pull someone else over? You got caught, that's all, not personal. Best of luck to you....

Don't take it personally.

You got caught. The others didn't (yet). They will eventually.

In the sports card category there are reprints that ARE allowed. They are manufactured by the actual company that originally printed them such as Topps. Then there are counterfeits which are NOT allowed. You are confusing the two. Yours was most likely a counterfeit, not a reprint.

@hockeyusa

3 days will go quickly.  Don't relist them.  Especially if Ebay felt they were unauthentic.

Happy Selling

Some reprints are legal.  It depends mostly on whether it has been authorized by the copyright holder.

in all reality all, cards printed after the first one, are reprint--either by the company or John Doe

Right or Wrong???

If Topp's re-issues one of their classic cards that is legal. They would also indicate that it's a re-issue.

Anyone else who prints the card and doesn't own the rights to the card is a criminal. Anyone who sells those would be breaking the law too.

No, that is an odd definition of "reprint."

Basically, the copyright holder is the only one who can legally print or reprint any publication, or authorize others to (re)print it.

If that was the case I would use my copier and sell thousands of Mickey Mantle cards. After all they are only reprints, right ?

Perhaps saying it is a 2nd Reprint or 3rd Reprint might help. The title  might have to exclude certain words or wording. Just thoughts.

In postage stamps, there are 2nd and 3rd reprints from countries...not the USA.

Unless I missed it, you haven't said if the reprints are official re-issues by the manufacturer or if they're just copies.

In case you're not sure how to find past questions you posted, just click on your username in your post. You've gotten advice on reprints in the past - it's worth reviewing again since this continues to be a problem for you @hockeyusa.

Actually, that's wrong.

A reprint by the copyright holder IS a reprint.

A copy by John Doe is a fraud, a fake, an illegal copy.  If you sold one by John Doe, you got what you deserved. Selling fakes is illegal and if you got caught by the law, you could face fines and prison time. If you were trying to sell fakes here, and you do it again, you will likely get banned permanently.
