Okay. E-bay really needs to better communicate to a Seller if you decide to do this manually to allow the Buyer some time to pay. But otherwise, I like this. Buyer has 5 days (or whatever you decide) and on day 6, you go in, select CANCEL Order. It gives you 3 choices as to why. 1st CHOICE is BUYER DID NOT PAY.
Yay. You just gotta be patient if you decide to do this manually. (I might switch to automate - 5 days is long enough as it is) so you don't trigger this too soon. You want the buyer to get that strike for Unpaid item. (btw - we don't do auctions - this was a Best offer we accepted, never paid. Said did not remember making an offer to us - he made 2 and we rejected the first one. Idjit)

@katzrul15 Thanks for posting. I'd only glanced at this new procedure. I've always used UPI cases before but you explained this better and are correct in the communication. I will now look into making mine automatic after five days. Best of luck to you....

yeah, I just changed mine from manual. Not sure why I ever elected that to begin with. But I do like the FB removal thang if there is an issue with the cancellation. Just need to remember to BBL every time if this is automatic.
(off to BBL)

How do you automate it?

In the left hand corner, your ID is on your summary page. Click the drop down box next to your ID and choose Account Settings.
It will take you to "My Account"
In that left hand list - go to "Seller Account" - 3/4ths of the way down (under Site Preferences, etc) is "UNPAID ITEM ASSISTANT"
Choose either to Automate or do it manually and choose the number of days.

I think if you automate it, buyer actually has four days and ebay cancels the transaction on the fifth day if unpaid.

Does the buyer still get the unpaid item strike? Can't find any mention that will still be the case in the announcement.

Yes. Yes the buyer still gets the unpaid item strike. It is in the FAQ section of the original announcement in the Spring Seller Update.

They do. But if you do it manually, you have to wait until the 5th day has passed. And be sure to select the "buyer did not pay" choice. You can cancel at any time as a Seller - just be patient and wait the time line so the Buyer does get the strike and you get free re-list and FB protection for that transaction.
You can automate this and have e-bay do it automatically if you like.

Thanks so much @katzrul15 and @my-cottage-books-and-antiques. I read it was available after 5 calendar days, so weekends count?
Sorry for so many questions but I am dealing with one of these now. Buyer ordered last Friday, 5/21. I sent an invoice on Sunday night, 5/ 23 and sent an email this morning asking if they still wanted the item. Crickets.

You're past your 5 days - my order was 5/21 and I closed it out today (e-bay calls it a "cancel")
05-27-2021 04:37 PM
Go to Seller Hub - Click on Orders and Choose "Orders Awaiting Payment"
In the drop down menu for that order, choose "Cancel Order" - It will allow you to choose from (3) choices - the 1st one is "Buyer Did Not Pay". Choose that and you'll get the screen confirmation in my original post.
