REALLY Annoying...Adding tracking number does not register/save

Okay this is getting ridiculous.  Am I the only one with this issue?

It's only for random items, but some stuff I've sold recently absolutely will not let me manually add tracking numbers (I ship through Shipstation), which is very important to me as a Top Rated Seller.  When I add a tracking number, it 'looks' like it went through and accepted, but when it returns me to the Ebay homepage and re-check the transaction details, there is no tracking info.  The item is just marked as shipped.

The craziest part is that this only happens with random items.  But has never happened before, at least not until the last month or so.  No rhyme or reason.

No matter what I do I cannot get the tracking info to save.  I've tried different browsers, disabling adblock software...you name it.   I only recently found out after the fact since I checked my TRS status for this upcoming evaluation period and it shows I only had 75% of tracking uploaded!    But come to find out many of my items didn't have the tracking number saved after I entered them.  And all but one of those items have already been long delivered to the customers already according to tracking!

This is seriously ridiculous, and I have no way to fix it.  Anyone else?

Maybe Shipstation is the problem?

Thanks for the reply! I don't think shipstation is the issue, as there are just standard USPS labels that are printed from their platform.  I'm simply plugging in the tracking numbers into Ebay.  And it's completely random which items don't update tracking on Ebay, which is even more frustrating.... : /

I vaguely remember an announcement a few months back that sellers were expected to use eBay labels. Thats all I've ever used so probably not much help. I'd bet there is some vague new policy that went into effect on the DL and you are going to have one heck of a headache to deal with.

I gave that a thought, and thanks for the idea.  Definitely could have some merit, but I've solely used shipstation for a year, and only 3 of my last 100 transactions had this particular issue.  Very random and frustrating. 😞  Thanks for the insight!

Is there seriously no Ebay rep on here that can investigate my account or help me in this respect?.....

I certainly can't be the only person in the world that has encountered this issue....I even tried a different computer this morning...no dice.

So I guess no Ebay reps browse this forum and offer help/insight to ridiculous user issues?

Good to know.

They don't normally respond unless they are paged.

Thank you so much sweet tea! 🙂

I assume paging means just mentioning them as you did, or do I have to create a new thread with them in the title? Sorry, that sounds like such a dumb question lol

tyler@ebay and brian@ebay  your aid in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

the ebay reps have been casually mentioning a  shipping team on the wednesday chats.

I have never heard of the shipping  team but they are sorely needed due to the inability of EISD to come up with a good label when the address format problem crops up. pitney bowes shoud be in charge of foreign addresses with ebay since PB is the one that tells  you the offical ebay address is no good in the USA

pirate ship has good rates  from what I have seen...........much lower than ebay shipping or EISD

Just wish they'd be more active on here...but I can understand it's difficult as there are a ton of people chiming in with their own issues.

I'm all for improvements.  But this still doesn't really address my particular issue.  It wouldn't have matter where/who I sourced my usps labels from, because Ebay simply wouldn't save/register the tracking numbers for 3 particular items no matter what I did.  Seems like a glitch on their end, but still haven't gotten a resolution for it.... sigh

I just ran into this also. Annoying is putting it mildly

No solution that I have been able to find.

You aren't (supposed to be) responsible for defects if the issue is caused by an eBay site malfunction/error.  Pull up the order that you want to add the tracking to, then go to "Add/Edit Note" and write "USPS Tracking #xxxx, unable to add tracking to order due to eBay site issue, __/__/__ (actual ship date)".

When the shipping defect appears on your report/stats, send an email to eBay via "Appeal A Defect". Put the order number, item #, and tracking number at the top of your email and keep it pretty brief, something like:

"I'm requesting removal of this late shipment defect because, as the tracking will show, it was shipped on time. I was unable to add the tracking information at the time the order was shipped due to an eBay technical issue, which I understand qualifies for removal under eBay policy. Could you please review the order and validate the tracking through usps.com and remove this defect since the order was indeed shipped on time with valid a tracking number within my stated handling time?"

It's been a while, but this has worked for me in the past and it was before all the shipping chaos, so hopefully it will work for you too.

Oh, and I do use eBay shipping. I was trying to combine purchases for a buyer.

Just FYI, answering your question (which is not dumb, because the answer is not obvious).

No, just typing the ID is not enough. You have to type an @ at the beginning of the user ID. When you do that, it will open a drop-down list of user IDs who have participated on the thread. Start typing the user ID you want to page (with no spaces) and the drop-down list will change to IDs that match the letters you are typing. Once you see the ID you want, click on it in the drop-down list, and that will create the code for the page (or @mention).

Like this: @rostar_art_prints  and tyler@ebay .

For some reason, once the reply is posted, the page displays differently for eBay employees (who have an @ in the user ID). For regular user IDs, the @ is displayed at the beginning of the page, but for eBay employees, the @ doesn't display at the beginning of the page. They look the same as you're typing the reply, though. That probably adds to the confusion.

@southern*sweet*tea paged a couple of blues (eBay employees) for you already.

@rostar_art_prints we do have customer service available here that can help with account specific issues like this. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and select either the chat or phone option.

If you can give me an item number example that isn't letting you add tracking, along with the steps you're following to try and add tracking, then I can take a look and get this reported. Thanks!
