I have a ton of things to get listed on Ebay, but I'm starting slow...as are views and sales. So, here are just a couple things I'm trying to figure out.
This is an example of what seems to be happening on a lot of my listings. I have a pair of Ecco Men's dress/casual shoes listed. I did a search and started in the category of Fashion ->Mens shoes ->Dress Formal...... checked in all the specifics for these and the're not coming up in the search. I've had this problem many times and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have been able to find them by using the search bar with key words, but that's not going to help others see them more readily. Is being vague sometimes better? I'm so confused.
Moving on:
When I found the above mentioned shoes on one of my searches, out of curiosity, I click on "nearest first" . There I saw similar shoes being sold by a seller with over 6000 fb (huge inventory). I click thier sold listings and saw ten's of pairs of shoes similar to mine that all sold for more (some double) than I'm asking (factoring for their free shipping) Many of them not in as nice shape as mine. One pair, not similar to mine, but were beyond thrashed, still sold for $50 (incl free ship). How does this happen???

That's probably because you listed them in Men's Shoes > Casual They show up just fine in that category.
