Questionable Copyright Infringement?

HI. Just out of curiosity, I noticed a seller that's actually printing fake designer logos on tags ( HIGH END) and tagging the items as NEW WITH TAGS! I mean and jacking up the prices. It's so obvious it's not VERSACE, GUCCI, ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA, COACH and more. . Mainly the entire site is all fake printed tags with no bar code just company/designer logos with the 4 basic shapes that you get at Staples. Is this allowed? Isn't it kind of deceptive listing it as "new with tags" when it's in good  condition at best.

I find it quite bold and almost teetering on getting your account frozen. I was going to buy a tie for Father's Day and did a couple double take. Would have been upset giving as a gift and a little embarrassed. Any thoughts?

You can always hit the report button. Granted probably nothing will happen unless the actual copyright holder reports them.

The Report Item Button I'm not a Believer In !! If you ( ARE 100% SURE ) of Your Accusations then Call Ebay and Have Them Take a Look at the Site/Items in Question !! If that doesn't help 😲  Then the Next Buyer who knows ( Real from Fake ) will Get Them !! 😂😂

Re: Questionable Copyright Infringement?

It's not like I care but kinda irks me that if I bought it with some BOOTLEG designer tag.... I wouldn't be happy. Can''t believe how bad it is and no one has complained.

Some buyers take a seller's word that it is what the seller says it is.

They trust their seller is honest & has greater knowelge about the item they than they as the buyer of the item.

If it were me, and I'd be that concerned, I'd send proof of it to the real company/manufacturer - in other words, report it officially. Then I'd contact the BBB, iC3, the state Attorney General and FTC. If eBay won't shut 'em down, one of these 4 will. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen, I'm certain because they don't play games about infringement and counterfeits. Who knows, if the right person/place responds, there may be some kind of reward in it for you. Good luck - hope you get taken care of so no one else gets hurts by this scam.

Re: Questionable Copyright Infringement?

Agreed - screen shot it or just copy the link to a listing or two and you can even contact the companies through email. The gov't is none too thrilled with all the fakes coming in and jeopardizing real businesses in the US with these fakes. Ebay will generally not do anything unless they receive notification from the actual company and that's another reason why they continue to lose buyers.

Re: Questionable Copyright Infringement?

The victim here is not the buyer.

The victim is the copyright holder -- and that's who you should be contacting.

Those firms are big enough to have websites.

Compose a polite message with the eBay transaction numbers and a link, and let their lawyers deal with the counterfeiter.
