Question re: eBay's automatic approval return policy

So, the last 2 return requests I received (didn't fit) were automatically approved stating "per eBay's return policy".   Is this something new?  Normally I'm able to respond to a return request myself.

Yes it s new from the fall seller update.
If you accept returns and it is buyer remorse then ebay just accepts it

Fairness dictates that you certainly should be afforded an opportunity to respond and challenge a return request, before a determination is rendered to approve.

I suggest that you Contact Ebay related to a Right to Appeal the Determination.

There are conditions that apply, that must be met, for automatic approval of a return.

Perhaps it's time for Ebay to stock, ship and sell their own inventory.
