I don't get many returns, and usually whenever I get one the rules have changed from the last time I did one LOL
SO a buyer requested a remorse return outside my window, but I was being nice over the Holidays and accepted the return (upon which PP promptly held the funds - thanks for that).
So I notice the request case shows the return was accepted Dec 28th and has a "refund due date" of the 29th Dec - Say WHAT??
So the blurb says buyer has to ship back by the 4th. It's now the 6th and no shipping in sight, yet the only options I have are to refund now? Why can't I just close the case as they haven't shipped by the time they're supposed to have?

I remember reading something similiar awhile ago and the seller had to call CS to have the cased closed do to buyer not shipping within the deadline. I don't know why seller can't do it themselves but I do remember they had to call.
If you find a work-around to it without having to call please update us here!
Good Luck.

You don't have to refund until you get the package. The buyer supposedly had 5 days to start the shipping process - it doesn't have to be delivered in that time frame. Bottom line - when it arrives, then give the refund. Don't sweat it until you see the package.
And Paypal always holds the money for the return, it's nothing you did. When you refund, it will come from the money being held, not from the money actually in the account.

They usually don't hold my funds ior returns, maybe because the ID in question is relatively new.

If that's the case it's bleeping ridiculous. If the case shows no shipping I should have the option to close case.
Yes, it is pretty ridiculous -- there SHOULD be a button for seller's to close case.

I had a remorse they didn't ship the return, I had to call to have it closed .
Don't be suprised to get a message that a case has been escalated and then within a few minutes another saying refund has been closed.
Not really sure why we have to do all this , BUT !!!!!

Glad it turned out well !
But it didn't because of any help from ebay.
I don't know what it is looking, it's like a gotcha situation. If sellers aren't on top of every little thing and
paying an extreme amount of attention to what is happening, they end up giving things away for free.
The question is-- by design? 😉

Speaking of which. Remember when if PP had a payment "on hold" it would SHOW that at the top of your summary page? Now they deduct it from the balance and still hold it BUT the details only appear on the actual transaction.
Now that to me is sleazy.
Another gotcha!
