Question about sending offers for quantity more than one

In my selling account I have a listing with a quantity of 2 available. An interested buyer sent a message asking if I would accept $10 for one. I answered using the Send Offer button to say that I cannot go that low but I plugged in an offer of $13.50 in reply.

Here is where I got a little confused. I have 2 available and would be happy to sell both at $13.50 each if the guy wanted 2 (he had not made any mention of wanting more than 1) so I clicked the pulldown quantity menu and selected 2. The confirmation popup that appeared simply showed a quantity of 2 and a total of $27. I did NOT send that because it looked like I was trying to stick him with a $27 bill for buying two items when he had only asked about one.

I could not see any indication that the offer he would have received was for one OR two items at $13.50 each - his choice. It looked as if my offer would have been $27 for two - take it or leave it. I finally sent him an offer for just one at $13.50 because I did not know what boosting the available quantity in my offer would have looked like at the receiving end. Would he have received an offer that made it clear that he could buy EITHER one OR two at  $13.50 each? TIA...

@itsjustasprain what I do in this case is create a separate listing for the buyer with a quantity of one and send them a link to the listing.

No. He would have received an offer of $27 for 2.

In this situation when you don't know how many the buyer wants I find it's often better to send an item targeted coupon than an offer, although, since you don't have a Store subscription that's not an option for you.

Ugh.

I ended up sending him an offer for 1. Keep it simple that way.
