Question about mark down sales on listings

Hi all,

I am just testing the waters with these mark down sales promotions.

From what I understand the listing must be older than 28 days to mark down? However I have seen some big sellers who list an item and apply a mark down or promotion the same day?

What am I missing?

Also I relisted an item which came back into stock and was previously on a mark down sale, now the promotion won't apply.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question about mark down sales on listings

I don’t know anything about this 28 day thing. I’m able to put markdowns on any fixed price listing I have regardless of age.

Listings that have zero quantity, out of stock, aren’t able to be marked down. So when your listing had the markdown and sold the last item, it knocked your listing out of that markdown promo you had and back to regular price. Putting inventory back into that listing doesn’t put the markdown price back on. And you can’t “re-link” that listing back into your markdown promo. There are two things you can do. 1) End and relist your listing. Since your relist is a brand new listing ID, you can add that into your existing markdown promo. Or 2) Start a brand new markdown promo that has the exact same criteria as your old one. Add your new relisted listing to that new promo. You’ll then have two promos with identical criteria. If you want to lessen the clutter, let your old markdown promo expire, thus putting all your linked listings back to regular price. Once you see that happen, re-add all of those listings into your new markdown promo. Abandon or delete the old markdown. Ta-da.

Question about mark down sales on listings

Thanks for the reply.

I found another comment that the listing needs to be at least 14 days old.

Anyway, I relisted a particular item recently, deleted the existing markdown which no longer applied and created a new markdown sale to be certain. The sale doesn't apply, it says 'skipped' next to the item.

So you've never had to wait once the listing has been revised or relisted? Because that's when I notice issues and I have found other community members experience the same.

As I said though I have seen other sellers who are able to apply markedowns to new listings straight away.

Are you in AUS?  If so, you're on the US Boards & it may be different.  I can put items on Markdown Sale whenever I want.  Even if they went up today.
