Question about being below standard

Hi all,

So we have been below standard for about 6 months now, mostly due to the fact we were making some of our signs and had one issue after another, plus with the slow down on ebay and us not showing up in search any more, can't seem to get out of the below standard. We have been around for about 5 years with the sign business, last year, around September sales dropped 80%, that's when they changed the category set up i believe.

When we started having issues with the sublimation we canceled sales and refund in full, then our printer and press went down so we gave up, but not before the damage was done. We have since moved from the signs all together to antiques as i have opened up a brick and mortar. We still offer signs and a few license plates but not what we used too, about 3k items before.

With the added fee's, search not showing up, or showing up at the bottom if there are other sellers, and the warnings we are still getting from ebay. I calculate it will not be till maybe the end of this year or maybe early next year before we can remove the below average seller rating. We have really good feedback, ship same day most of the time and deal with all customer issues ASAP, but unfortunately none of that matters much to ebay. We do accept responsibility for the below standard rating.

Would it make more since, since our listing and sales are down so much, to close this account and maybe open a new one up under the new company name, or just wait it out. They keep threatening that they are going to ban us, I would rather close the store and close this account and more on if that is going to happen, anyone have this issue, how log were you allowed to stay below average. Thank you all

Re: Question about being below standard

If you open a new account in order to avoid the restriction placed on your current account, eBay will probably find out and will permanently suspend both accounts. You really have to just wait it out.

The Below Standard rating is all about percentages and looks at your transactions for the past 12 months; there's no way around that except having a huge number of sales which isn't really feasible.

Re: Question about being below standard

Thank you for the links, did not realize that we would be forced to give back full refunds and cannot refund part for damages. When we did just signs and stuff, no issues with giving full refunds, but now with the antiques its much different. I believe at this time we will most likely just close the ebay store and move on. We might revisit it at the end of the year or maybe next year once the below standard falls off. We just cannot sell enough, plus with the extra fee's, no promoted listings and almost zero sales, just zero chance for us to fix it. Thank you

Re: Question about being below standard

Most of my below standard ratings are from theist office taking over 10 days for 1st class mai to get delivered and ignorant buyers who only look at a picture and not the description and part number along with packages out for delivery and never arriving.

So now have become a $400-500 seller a month vs a $2500-3000 month seller because of the extra 6% being charged for below standard because i work on a small profit margin and cannot continue to lose $.

So how smart is ebay now.
