I received this text from PayPal today after transferring money to my bank account.

We transferred funds from your PayPal account to your bank account. This will reflect in your bank account in typically 1 business day.

i have been selling on ebay quite a few years and have never gotten a text about a transfer, it has always been an email. Today I got both. Is that anything to be concerned about or is it something new?

Apparently, PayPal is having some changes to their policies and/or services come July 31, 2020. If you haven't gotten the information on it, you may want to check their site.

If a seller has never supplied a cell phone number to PayPal there would be no way for PP to text that seller. However, if seller has supplied PP with cell phone #, then it is a possibility and probability for PayPal to send texts.

I read the updates and didn't see anything that mentions a change in the way they are communicating .

PayPal has always had my phone number from the beginning as well as my email address. Today is the first I have ever received a text message from them.

PP only uses text if you both supplied your cell phone number and gave them permission to send you texts. I have not given them my cell nor have I clicked on the text option. I only receive emails for that reason. Just go look at your account and make the changes to which ever method of contact you prefer and you'll be fine.
