I have a buyer from France purchase something, and sales have been so bad that I'm gonna ship even though I have heard all sorts of stories advising against shipping there. I actually thought I had blocked the country but apparently I did not. Anyway, my actual question is concerning the VAT thing. In 'shipping details', next to 'tax details' I have a 'VAT Paid' code. I read the page about VAT obligations in the UK & EU, and it is really complicated. If someone with expertise can just tell me what I have to worry about, if anything, I would be really grateful. The part on the page about 'Failure to met VAT requirements' is really scary but I have no idea if it even applies to me. I am shipping to them from outside the UK/EU. Is there in fact some thing I need to register for, or is this only for people within the EU? I have sold to the UK and some other European countries many times and just added whatever code is displayed in the shipping details, but maybe I never noticed the exclamation mark leading to the VAT info page. I'm not sure if anything has changed, so just hoping to get some reassurance. Also, if anyone does happen to have any recent positive experiences shipping to France I would love to hear about that as well. 😊
