I'm confused on how to accurately provide purse measurements for a listing. One source shows the depth of the bag to be from front of the bag to back of the bag and call the length the measurement across the bottom length of the bag. Another source calls the depth from the top of the bag to the bottom and call width from the from front of bag to back of bag. Anyone know what is the correct terms to use for the measurements and how to measure them?

Thanks, the have googled over and over and get the above measurements but then also see the very different terms and confusing use of depth on another site and unclear which is accurate.

I would take my measurements based on the pictured (purse diagram) and include it as one of my pictures to show your buyers exactly was you used as a reference. Here's how: save the attached diagram to a pfd. file and insert it into (1) of (12) your pictures option.
I would also take actual pictures of me using the tape measure showing: length, weight, height, etc. in my listings. Good luck.

I do exactly how @memphiskansasgirl123 does and I've never had an issue. I list each measurement as follows:
L:
W:
H:
I list them separately so there is no confusion or mumbled measurements in an attempt not to confuse a potential buyer . . . works every time for me

Set the purse in front of you looking at the side.... yes the outside....
You should be looking at the long side - left to right. That's the length, measure across one end front to back. That's the width. Measure from the top opening to the bottom - outside or inside. That's the height.
Now list it as __ " long x ___ " wide x ___ high. Weight;_____ lbs . If you measured the height on the inside of the purse you could call x___ inside depth. Weight is optional. I add it for international bidders to help them estimate shipping.
Also add the strap length as it the purse were hanging from you shoulder and say it's ___ " from shoulder to bottom of bag or photograph it over a shoulder. - Don't show your models face or you'll have to have her (or him... lol) sign a photo release.
Or, you can just fill it with all the junk women stuff into purses, empty it all on a table and take a picture.
I looked at a purse you have listed. You're asking your audience to refer to the pictures. I would revising that because you're giving the impression there might be something wrong. You're telling others to find that fault as if you're not responsible. If there are any faults be sure to describe them thoroughly and show them in a picture. This will help you avoid an issue later.

Another thought. eBay's global climate has changed and it is anthropogenic climate change.
Listings for clothing and accessories should include a statement that, in essence says;
"Do to differences in computer systems, monitors and cameras, colors can be differ (slightly *) from these listing pictures". *
*slightly is optional as it is vague and argumentative.
