Did you mean:

Protectorates

First of all, I buy and sell on eBay.

What irks me are those sellers you check the protectorate clause and then have a favorable clause about international shipping.

Then one contacts the seller about removing the clause and either there is no response or they say they can’t.
Some sellers purposely use the clause knowing that we live in the 21st century on the greatest nation on earth!

So Hmm..Alaska, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, Samoa, etc. Hey Priority Mail works for me. Whenever and wherever.

Others are irked by sellers who do not accept returns. To each his own.

We are ALL buyers and sellers here.

Sellers have the right to decide how they are going to run their business and where they are willing to ship to with a few exceptions.

Just like you selected a Return policy that works for you.  Many would not like that either, but you have every right to select it.

So what is your point exactly??

Opinions are  like  navels every one has one but they are all different..  Sold on eBay - always shipped to all 50 states and US protectorates, and APO & FPO (military).  Only shipped Priority, one day handing, initially had a 15 day return policy,  changed to a 30 day return police when eBay  implemented the eBay Money Back Guarantee for buyers - made sense to me - no big deal - my choices  that  I believe are "buyer" friendly vs  a seller protective approach - never got burned

We all don't think alike and all followed different  footsteps - but I do feel sorry for those on the west coast (lol) - have close family there

I understand every word in the OP,  but I still don't understand what they're trying to say.

In all fairness, those  from another country may have issues understanding  the version of English we speak in other regions of the USA as there first language is different, or the educational opportunities are limited.  For example in Mexico young people only are exposed to  school grades  from 1st to 6 th grade paid for by their government - after that they  have to pay..  Many developed countries like Japan are or were taught British English, then they hired American teach that taught them Americanese (my made up word).  Either way in their best efforts where they are speak in English they probably only understand 50% of what an American are saying even if you talk slowly.  The Japanese  are a vary polite people even if they  have no clue of what they said the will smile and shake their  head up and down  Worked for two Japanese companies for a total 14 year and traveled throughout Mexico  for "legal" business for 5  years and lived north and south of the Mason and Dixon line for  50/50% of my life - my new wife is a born and raised Lone Stare Lady. - she say amin' and  fixin'  - it means I'm thinking about doing it and I'm about ready to do it.  Heck thought that meant - thought that  meant getting  ready to shoot a gun  or an arrow and repairing something.  But  we both liked to drink beer and dance (she leads)

"Though I thought Alaska was a state, not a protectorate."

You were thinking of Canada, which is a state, not a protectorate.

Come on get happy, come on let's go.  The Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. There's fun in the sun for everyone, but don't forget your scuba, cause the name is Aruba.

I really like the fact that many sellers only ship to 48 states. I have made lots of sales over the years because of it.

Unfortunately, I have had to exclude Alaska, Hawaii and protectorates from some of my more expensive items that need to go by ground advantage.   eBay shipping estimates are way off, and the last three things I sent to Hawaii I had to do missing mail searches for, and came within days of having to do INR refunds.

Hawaii and Alaska are only the next state over for us.

Thank you for your responses.
The protectorate issue may have been valid when conceived over a decade ago but eBay should more surgical given that express, priority and registered mail are readily available to willing buyers.
