I want to do a sale where after you buy a minimum of 3 items the shipping is free, but there doesn't appear to be a way to do that as from what I can see you can ONLY choose items that are "discounted".

Why would I want to discount the item cost PLUS offer free shipping?

Also seems to be no easy way to select items like you can in just a MDM sale.

The way I'm reading it you can do 1 of the 3 , I am not reading it that you can just pick from already discounted . But you know I could be wrong Smiley Surprised

Yeah, I got to that screen but then I'm having a buttload of trouble trying to select which listings I want it to apply to. I can either choose from a category or by SKU or by item ID.

I don't understand why I can't do like a normal ORDER discount where it brings up my items and I can select a store category THEN select which ones I want.

I am sure this is possible.  Let me look at the steps and outline them here for you.

  • Choose  shipping discounts (2nd options from the Create a promotion drop down box (top right side area)
  • Change the default from minimum order to minimum quantity and then set (drop down box set to 3)
  • Now set the free shipping from the next drop down box.
  • Add items that qualify for the discount and set the time frame and launch

Let me see the path that is easiest.

  • Click the create an inclusion rule
  • Click on your store category and choose the category from the options
  • If there are items in that category you do not want to be part of your sale you need to also then create an exclusion list using the item number of those listing you do not want to add to the promotion.
  • MAKE SURE once you create a rule albeit an inclusion or exclusion rule you also need to add it to the promotion (blue box at bottom)

ahhh, gotcha.

idk, I've never individually picked items, I've only done entire categories. I don't see a way to individually pick the items. Smiley Frustrated

Like I said, it would be a LOT easier to do it the way I mentioned rather than all the inclusion exclusion rubbish.

Guess my customers will just have to forego FS on more than 3 items.

Don't have time to deal with this rubbish that isn't straightforward (but then we know eBay thinks a sellers' time is worth nothing)

I CAN'T do an entire CATEGORY because contrary to what eBay might think not ALL items in a category are the same freaking weight/size.

The options are there for you to use or not and the tool was designed for all users which includes sellers who want to do more than you do.

Yep.  I would have thought you could choose them individually. I've only ever done B3GFS in cookbooks as a category, never bothered to ever look to see if individual items could be chosen. I ran a B3GFS promo the entire year last year. You would be amazed at the number of people who paid  more for shipping two books instead of choosing a cheap third book and getting FS.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Sorry but I work a j.o.b. and sleep AND do eBay......if it's not straight forward and easy to accomplish what I want to do then forget it.

It really is not that difficult.  You can add individual listing but you would have to copy and paste the item number into the inclusion rule one at a time.  I have promotions where I might use 150+ listings so doing a whole category at a time and then excluding certain listing numbers is much easier and quicker as well.

In order to do exactly what you described (different weight and sizes) you need to have this ability to include or exclude a number of different ways.
