Promoting it's a joke???

I started trying out ebays new "promote listings" yet even when my item is new in box, cheaper, on sale, and FREE SHIPPING someone else will sell theirs before me for more money not being promoted and so on. What is the deal?!?!?!?!? I am **bleep** I mean when I sell such an item on a promotion ebay gets a fee of 5-20% depending on how much I really wanna push my item, yet I have logged out of ebay and come in as a joe blow and look up my item which is being "promoted" and its like on beeping page 3!!!!! What is the point of "promoting" when it doesn't put your item at the top and all it does is rip you off????? Has anyone else tried out the promoting and what are your thoughts? Thanks 🙂

You  pay nothing until it sells, so not sure about the rip off comment.

They do vary the placement of the PL listings so listings are not only in search........and obviously, it's to THEIR benefit to sell the item.....but you don't automatically "buy" lst page slot all the time.......

I think of promoted listings as the Ebay version of SPAM. They're very annoying, showing multiple times on my search pages. I refuse to buy from a promoted listing. I'm sure other buyers feel the same way.
