I thought I would do a shout out on promoting.
Not a fan of it...and use it on multiples of exact same items.
I did this last week:
Have 3 same items: one at 50% higher of the normal price with 20% promoted.
one or more at normal price at 2% promoted.
I am selling the cheaper ones...LOL
So, this is just another option...instead of listing one item which you have 2+ more...list multiples if your item is not selling at different pricing and promoted rate.
I realize the 20% promoted rate where the item is 50% higher probably won't sell but it helps on selling the other exact same items.😎

That's great, sounds like you found a way to beat EBAY at their promotions game. Very clever.

The only question and concern regarding this strategy is the Duplicate listing policy.
Obviously, they are different prices but it may still be skirting the spirit of the rule.
I know when sellers were experimenting with free shipping vs buyer pays shipping, sellers would list two identical listings. I know that some sellers ran into issues as that was considered violating the duplicate listing policy.
Of course, that was many years ago. The policy still exists but maybe different prices are ok now.

Just wait till someone buys the cheaper one and you get whacked the 20% fee just because they clicked on that listing.

Are you sure that you are not paying the promotion fee due to "halo effect"?
That's what will happen if they clicked the promoted listing.
