Hello Friends and Ebay support.
------
* Can someone tell me why my shoes under $100 are now being forced to use FED EX eBay shipping labels? * * Also, why are my shoes under $100 being sent to authentication?
------
Last E-Bay policy I read stated, "shoes Over $100 would go through authentication and FEDEX must me used with a set. $14.95 fee to the buyer.
It seems kind of like a greedy / a not needed process ,for E-Bay to make more money.
(example) a shoe under $100 has little profit margin for us. Now you are throwing cheaper shoes into authentication which wastes buyers time and money. I can ship shoes Through USPS and UPS for sometimes cheeper than $14.95. I actually stay away from FEDEX because several untrustworthy events I have experienced. (theft, damaged products, and missing items are higher with this company. Now E-Bay will tax me a higher percentage on the item for being sent through Authentication (Correct?)
It will also back up the authentication process by requiring shoes to go through authentication when not needed. (example) PUMA CLUB sneaker selling for $65.00 is going through Authentication.
(((((WHY))))).
Is there a new policy update I may be unaware of?

It looks like eBay might have lifted the $ limit as I see no mention of it on either page below - not even in the FAQ or T&C.

I went through the archives of those pages and the dollar limit was removed last year.

The ORIGINAL price needs to be under $100.
Your shoes that have the Authenticity Guarantee are either priced at over $100 or have an original price before rebate of over $100.
Lose the sale gimmick and price your items under $100 and the AG won’t apply.

You need to do your own research, if you want that much detail.

@wastingtime101 is correct, in August 2022 eBay dropped the dollar amount requirement for sneaker authentication and replaced it with a more generic "available for select models within the following brands."
The list of qualifying brands has changed over time and they do not specify models, so basically since that change it's been impossible to know for sure your shoes will qualify until you list them.
Here's what it currently says
https://pages.ebay.com/authenticity-guarantee-sneakers/
Scroll down all the way to the bottom of the page and open up the FAQ section.
@thesupershopspot If you want to see how the terms for authentication have changed over time, here's the link to that page on the Wayback Machine Internet Archive - pick a date to see what that page looked like when a snapshot was taken.

Just sold my first pair of shoes on here. Why aren't we notified as sellers that our items are required to ship to an authenticator before we hit the final "list it" button, unless I missed it? I didn't find out until the auction was over and got the message to send to authenticator. I tried to message the buyer just to let them know and ebay won't even let you message the buyer directly from the listing. This is really weird to me. I had to look up the buyers user name and send them an unrelated message, turns out he didn't even know about forced authentication either and is **bleep** I didn't ship directly to him, but I wasn't provided that option.

The buyer, unless they are blind was aware of the Authentication process prior to purchase, There was no need to contact them about it.
I'm assuming it's the Vans, in Search it has the AG banner, on the listing page it has the banner plus some details plus a link to complete details of the Authentication process.

I'm not an expert on this topic, but if you have shoes that do not need to go through the authentication process, you should be able to ship them any way you want, just like any other item.
