It has become very apparent that even after the change to 2% and stopping the 1% , that promotion is still being a maneuver for EBAY. It has been very clear with some testing of different amounts and going with Ebay "suggested" which is well over the 2% . The "suggested" is when they seem to start showing your items more. Yeah I know some sellers will and don't mind promoting that but that should not be the standard or at least wouldn't think so.

IMHO the best way to promote your items is to find inventory that few other sellers are offering. That way your listing is always near the top, and your promotion rate is 0%.
But I understand this is an easy for a hobby seller to take, and others may not have that luxury 🙂

Seems that the "suggested" is based upon the average being used, so logic would be that it would be the point at which your item would begin to be shown in viewing.

I'm no longer using promoted listings at all.
My sales are about the same.
No more giving ebay extra money from me.

I could go with that theory until I promoted well above their suggested rate and still nothing show up. did ebay search as well google search, clearly showing those items were not being promoted as they should. some items I have are not promoted and can be googled and found as well at the very top of the listings on ebay.
