Promoted Listings

I promoted 1 of my listing yesterday. It was showing sponsored on the listing front page yesterday but not today. It is not any where close to being promoted. Is this a scam ebay? I  also don't know why there is no phone number to call someone for HELP. I might be changing formats soon.

The algorithm is always changing its search results every single day. It's different for every single individual person based on what they purchase/search. It may be on the front page for 1000's of other people but maybe not for you. This goes for any online platform. Happens with my items as well but doesn't make a difference or reflect on my sales. Stop worrying so much about things that are our of your control & stay focused on sourcing & listings the best items that you can find/get. Good luck. Also keep in mind that other sellers could be promoting their listings way more than you. You also need to give the system, in my opinion, 3-5 days before it really gets in the algorithm. If you keep changing stuff every single day because you don't see a change instantly then your going to slow your own store down because the algorithm will never have a change to catch up.

I noticed the same. Not even “sponsored” word on the listing as it used to be. I think it is fishy especially without any announcement . I was always promoting and that was never an issue like that.

if your promoted rate was low than you wouldn’t appear many times while people were scrolling and you wouldn’t show anywhere else. But the sponsored word was at the listing. I know they removed scrolling and hid search items so that may be the glitch they didn’t foresee .

Calling it a scam is premature. Not everyone will see the same page you see with the same search inputs....especially the promoted items...

Your promoted items also show up on other listing pages as well as google. You may never see it....\

why would they scam you? They want you to make a sell so they can make more money

I would say that promoted doesn’t work as it used to. They tell you that they are showing your items but they don’t since the search changed (scrolling eliminated and showing buyer limited items unless buyer keeps rewording search ). The impressions are not what they used to due to the change . Impressions (displaying item in search ) are not leading to views (clicks) at all . Promoting doesn’t increase sales as it used to. 

Ebay messed stuff up.

Promoted Listings DOES work. I constantly have new accounts purchasing from me. They have a zero feedback score and signed up that day. I figure they saw my listing in Google and created an account on Ebay to buy from me.

so after pondering… 

There is no need to promote at 20% if your item is one of 3 worldwide. Ebay is intentionally misleading sellers by suggesting out of touch rates that have no ground in anything. If you don’t promote your item will not get views.

Yes, it's an ebay scam. That's how they've been in business since 1995.

It used to work. It doesn’t work for me since May 12. After changes they started to roll. Almost sll items are promoted for me. See screenshot how it performs. And this is after I increased rates.

This is what mine shows:

Promoted listings sales:  $1,320.60  78.7%Up   67.0% of total sales

Organic sales:   $651.51   44.3%Down   33.0% of total sales

May 12th would be 11 days after you posted this:

"...I list items daily and for the past couple of days I uncheck promoted box while listings...."

how do you know those are not other sellers buying from new accounts?
