Promoted Listing SOLD!

Last night one of my promoted listings sold!  Yay!  Would it have sold even if it wasn't promoted? ..  I do not know, there's no way to know for sure.  However, since it is a promoted listing and I am a TRS ($30 coupon) my question is:  Will I be charged on this month's invoice but credited back next month?  That's the way I understand it .. anyone more familiar?

Thank you!

Promoted Listing SOLD!

This is the first time most people are getting and using the $30 credit so we're all in the same boat here.  Testing the waters.  Seems to be a good program to give TRS benefits that they deserve.  Other than that, I don't think it's going to drive a whole ton of revenue.  Who knows, though?  Not me!  🙂

Congrats on your sale.  About whether you would have sold it or not.  Well you might have if the original listing showed up in the search result for the buyer.  When you purchase promoted listing ads, ebay creates a duplicate listing to the original listings and displays it is search many times right next to the original and if the buyer purchases the original listing you do not pay the promoted listing fee, but if they purchase from the promoted listing then you do.

I would call CS but I'd bet they don't know the answer re: fee reimbursement Smiley Frustrated

Besides this one small sale the only thing i am seeing on the PL dashboard is a whole lot of impressions, less than a handful of clicks.

I started promotions a few months ago and up to today I have made 235 transactions from the promoted listings.  You have to work with them a bit to find your sweet spot and do not be afraid to raise your promoted listing FVF.  I increased mine and added some of that extra cost to the regular selling price and it seemed to jump start my promoted listing sales.

@goodluckselling  Hi!  Since you have been using the promoted listings awhile can you please tell me how/when you see the credit back for items that sell?

I had a small sale yesterday on a promoted item and I had it listed at a 5% rate.  The fee will be minimal for the PL sale but I don't know what/when to expect the charge and then refund.  Is there a month lag time between fee charge and then credit?

I am not a TRS seller so I do not have any info to share about the 30.00 credit, but I will assume the monthly credit

  • does not roll over so what ever you do not use this month does not become available next month,
  • The breakdown in the monthly bill will probably be a regular fee for the item sold then another line of details showing the credits you acheived for this month.  Your promoted listing credits should show in this area.
  • I do not think any lag would need to be there.  It should calculate just like your regular monthly fees do.

Thank you.  So sounds like I will be charged for this on my 7/20 invoice and recieve the credit back on the 8/20 invoice.  I will keep on eye on things.

Thanks so much!

Anf if everyone uses promoted listings to get sales, they will be no further ahead than they were before the program started and the only clear winner will be Ebay who makes more on FVF's all the way around.

I personally will not use the feature unless I continue to get a $30 monthly coupon.  I will not pay extra out of my own pocket for it.  Maybe that's just me though?

Well, since it's a quarterly coupon, I guess you'll never use it.

That's exactly how it works. I've already seen the credits on my May, June, and July invoices.

Congrats on the sale!

I still can't use promoted listings because I don't do multi and the categories I sell in are not included.  It's nothing but a $30 throw-away right now.

With that said, I do hope this isn't another one of eBay's things that they suck sellers into, and then take it away, in whole or in part.  Think TRS discount for starters, and all those promises of better placement if you do X, Y and Z.

Great! 45.8% down over the same time last year with 2x+ items listed. Are you impressed? I'm certainly not!

Well, you aren't missing much.  Out of 5 listings I've had 138 impressions and only 2 clicks.  I will never pay for this feature out of my own pocket -- if I am not getting the credit I am not using it.  I have a feeling this new program is not going to pan out.
