Promoted Listing FEES

Hi Everyone, just wanted to tell you all to be careful with add fees. I had an old customer contact me and ask me if my product was still available. I said it was and sent him the eBay product ID number to place in the search engine, which he did. He purchased the product and hey presto, I received a general add fee !! Clearly, he did not click any link other than the search bar and purchase.

It seems that if a customer clicks anywhere in eBay, you are going to get charged for a general add fee even if they click a "buy now" button

Have noticed lately that virtually every sale includes a general add fee; the odds of that happening with no generic sales would be quite low. I am of the opinion that we are getting robbed by a system that randomly makes these charges.

Please take care and question everything,  after all, it's your money!

Promoted Listing FEES

What is it that you find is incorrect about this?  What is the program doing wrong or against the policy?

Promoted Listing FEES

I have been complaining about this for years, while all the eBay bodyguards(ma'am) defend eBay's highly suspect programming. Like, I wouldn't notice my sales used to be 70%-80% organic sales and are now 90% sold via promoted listings. Repeat buyers, that purchase the same item month after month, but now those are promoted sales. It's all in the magic of programming, rewriting the terms, adding Halos, and consulting attorneys. That is the magic of eBay.

Promoted Listing FEES

Instead of saying "it seems" and then making an unsubstantiated claim, why not just read the rules of the fees for the promotional tool you are using?

If a buyer clicks any of your ads, then any purchase of any promoted item by that user in the next 30 days is subject to the ad fee.

" eBay will report a Halo sale from a general campaign when an item promoted with a general strategy, different from the item originally featured in the general ad the buyer clicked on, is purchased within 30 days of the original click"

https://pages.ebay.com/sell/pl/attribution.html

Why is this? You have to think like a cheater.

  • A seller has two listings - one for $100 and one for $110.
  • He promotes the $110 at 50%
  • The $110 item description says "Click this link to get an extra $10 off!" with a link to the $100 item

Without Halo sales, the seller would get the benefit of a promoted listing but not have to pay the ad fee.

As noted above PL fees are applied to any buyer who has recently clicked on one of your other PL items.  And that is why you need to keep your PL fees low so as not to be bit on the backside on an item for which you have not factored such fees into the price.
