Promoted Item Fee Just Extended from the Item Price to the Entire Transaction

Is anyone else upset by this? I'm SO SO irritated by it! It's like when we switched to managed payments and now we pay the ENTIRE final value fee of 11.5% + on shipping and sales tax too. Sales tax!! That's just happened in June to the Promotional Ad Fee. It was just only on the price of the item, but now they're applying the fee to shipping and sales tax too. I'm fed up! I reduced all my ad fees from 4% down to 2%, but complaining to eBay is useless. I wish we could all agree to set our fees to the very lowest  amount possible and send a message to eBay. I'm just tired of being charged fees on shipping and sales tax too - it makes no sense! Well...I guess it makes sense to eBay... 😞

It makes sense to me that the FVFs are charged on the whole ticket... item + s&h + sales tax. I mean, after I considered that the tax bookkeeping would cost way more than the FVF, that is. Hang in there...

All payment processors charge fees on the total sale, including shipping and tax. It's been that way for a very long time. 

In regards to the promotional fees, they started applying those fees to the total sale as of June 1, 2022.

Change to Promoted Listings Standard ad fee calculation methodology

On June 1, 2022, the Promoted Listings Standard ad fee calculation will change to align more closely with how we calculate final value fees. Specifically, the ad fee will be calculated in all markets based on the total amount of the sale for each attributed sale, using the same basis we use to calculate final value fees (including applicable taxes, shipping and other applicable fees described here). Currently, in certain markets including the US, the Promoted Listings Standard ad rate applies only to the final price of the item.
